You can't blame us for wishful/hopeful thinking that our (the actual people who are considering buying the game, that is) input might be valued by EM, as they once claimed it would be.

Regardless those who don't post explicitly should still have the opportunity to voice their opinion. Thief of all games would have a naturally large crowd of lurkers, and, even if nothing ends up changing, they should have the opportunity to be known. Could you make the poll yourself? Maybe posting will work for you. I've always liked and respected you as a moderator Viktoria, this is really important for alot of people, and I'm sure it's important to you too. Whether the hysteria is in the words, or only seen in the words of others, everyone's being hysterical. I only wish it were truly funny, not just laughing off the tension.
Being steadfast in their decision just means we get louder in our steadfastness. Hire the man! Great Builder, throw us a consolation prize and give us Benny, at least!

What are you basing that on, moderators taking down threads?
All I've seen is their interview where they explain their decision... but, I don't read that as some sort of immovable steadfastness. Are you factoring in personal messages too?

Frankly I would have preferred they just make this Thief a new character... name him Connor or some crap and have him connect with Garrett at some point, as he develops as a better and better Thief... Garrett could have grown quite old, and have become a Stephen Russell cameo, it would help explain the city looking so different... it would have Russell still in the role of Garrett... it would make it okay for the player character to be so much younger and more fit, and all the events of the previous Thief games could still have taken place.
You could find references to those events, and they could even have a really cool lead up and story as to why you're trying to find Garrett, or why you run into him... maybe he could give you a certain upgrade, one of his old devices... who knows?
