'Can't blame us' ... pretty much a figure of speech intended to illustrate that no matter how many times you post that EM is 'clearly steadfast in their decision' (which comes across sounding as though you wish to discourage us from trying to change their minds, btw), we'll keep holding out hope that maybe we can change their minds (yeah, just like we hoped they were telling the truth when they said our (TTLG's) opinions and input were valued by EM). As much as that hope might be nothing more than a lesson in futility and study in frustration, we can still try.
As always, you've focused on one phrase and apparently totally missed the point. Again.

Eidos Montreal is deleting threads because clearly this is turning into a PR nightmare for them. Reddit, here, and most other forums I frequent have been reacting uniformly negatively to every. single. news. release. for this game. It's quite unprecedented, and this latest bit has turned even some formerly steadfast believers into naysayers instantly. I don't think even the Hitman: Absolution issue blew up as bad as this.
They were obviously operating under the opinion that Thief was some sleepy little forgotten IP that they could "revamp" for the "next-generation of gamers" and the vocal minority would be very minor. Unfortunately, that has not been the case. Sadly, Eidos is also clearly staffed by some very ignorant and egotistical developers who are not going to change a whit when it might compromise their "artistic vision", as is made obvious by the fact that they shopped around for some no-name voice actor for their Garrett.

Or even better, Russell as Garrett could have been your instructor at the beginning... the Master Thief you've been studying under, learning all the tricks of the trade from him... sort of like a Batman Beyond Bruce Wayne dynamic.
I think that would have pissed people off less than having it still be called Garrett, still have the mechanical eye... but voiced by someone different, and turned into a 160lb 21 year old body type guy.

I'll bet EM are more open to us than their unofficial spokespersons. We've petitioned and gotten several things for the effort. The list of things petitioned for and never answered is shorter. If you don't want Russell, then you'll have a fight. If you really would rather have Russell then it makes no sense to get in the way. :sly:

With the modern marketing tactic of paid astroturfing firms, I don't doubt there are a few who have. Unfortunately, Astroturfers and twelve year olds aren't the ones who will sustain an IP like Thief. All they are going to achieve with this title is permanently destroying any value it had left.

It won't be as doable with the voice-files, but modding all the game's texts to read "Gary" rather than "Garrett", might help those who gave their money for a game about a serial thief and regret it.
