@Kurgan: I'm not saying it did not sell well, I'm saying that Square Enix has very high expectations and that even if the game is good, it barely reached their sale number in the end. Given than Tomb Raider is not a niche game while Thief definitely is, it doesn't bode well for it. It's the exact same thing with EA and Dead Space. I agree with the rest of your post though.
Like Captain Spandex, I'm not wishing this game to crash or whatever, but let's be realistic for a second here.

I expect it to do better than any previous Thief title--in sales--as if that ever matters. TDP went up against Half-Life but still sold as well as the devs expected. After awhile it reached two million in sales. That's respectable but still small compared to many games that have come out since (not including Sims and tie-ins and such).
Antihero, to put it another way, if you take away everything that Garrett meant to the Keepers, the factions, and The City, he himself is nothing special in that universe. His Keeper training was never enough to keep him alive through everything, and he never could go invisible standing in light without a potion, unlike Artemus. He always needed help from the Keepers that won't be there anymore if the canon means a damn. They warned him, they saved his life, guided him to clues, etc. He was never fully Keeper Glyph-powered and only had the means to end the corruption. TDS gave him one unique super-ability that shouldn't even matter anymore: Eavesdropping on Enforcers' telepathic communication. His personal skill with elemental crystals is apparently gone, and I wonder if Hand Mages and elemental entities have any place in this new City, whether we see them or not. No necromantic disruption? It's too stripped out. It's an expensive FM that we are expected to pay money for.

Listen up ladies and gentlemen, Taffers all... looks like Eidos Montreal is showing off their new Golden Boy taking the role of Garrett, one Mr Romano Ozari: (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=oGENrFor6i4)
Now, I have no quarrel with the man... he's merely an actor, like yours my fight is with Eidos Montreal... and on that note they have chosen most interestingly... Mr Ozari has performed some voices in some Assassins Creed stuff... (
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0651451/)
My response to that? I was wondering when Assassin's Creed would take the next step beyond merely waving it's middle finger at the Thief franchise... looks like they've actually started to infiltrate us and take over... as already evidenced by the trailer... thanks a bundle Eidos Montreal, exactly what the world of shadows needed, right? Stay unified folks, and keep up the pressure. We can do it.
Is there any other way any of us can think of getting more attention, or more places we can spread this awareness to? We should all start brainstorming ideas and throwing them on the table. Just throwing this one out now, is there yet an actual petition page over on the Thief 4 Forum at Eidos? Would it be allowed if we made one rallying for more support, or would it get ripped down right away? If it can be done, we should start a discussion page on behalf of us here at Through the Looking Glass... if we do it right, hopefully they will have no grounds to delete.

And I can see what you are getting at in regards to all the help he had, and his lack of supernatural ability like the Keepers, but that said, I feel he more then makes up for that through sheer cunning and scheming when it comes to any situation, just the way he always seems to be... he's a planner.

Behold! I rise from the grave to join the cacophony of dissatisfaction!
Really, I think the biggest issue I'll have with the new guy is getting used to the odd accent. Not to mention the lack of all the familiar roles that SR had played. *sigh*

Mr. Giovanni Auditore... I knew, I've seen his face somewhere...
and NOTHING in his performance, makes me think, he can play a role of Garrett right.

Can't wait to see/hear more clips featuring Romano.

Exactly! He's perfectly suited to Ubisoft, Jr's. AC-based hashashinized 3rd-Person thief model, subconsciously made in his image all along, after working with him before, not
Garrett as an established character who has no set visage and is a master of staying unseen!
