Here's hoping that Valley of the Burned will hook you enough to want to continue with the campaign. :cheeky:
This was an awesome contest by the way, you should do it again sometime. :D

Thank you for your positive feedback, marbleman! I couldn't really tell if it was a success due to the low number of actual attempts. But the video had tons of views in a short time, so many definitely took an interest. I might do it again in a couple of months.
I think I would do 2-3 scenes from each mission, but perhaps have more missions (like 15 or 20). But then I would have all attempts sent to me privately, but not require all to be named. So if you only know 5, then you only send those 5 names. Then I would have a time limit on it (say 3 days), and whoever managed to name the most missions before the time ran out would win. Of course, this would eliminate participation for anyone who's only on YouTube and not registered on TTLG. Just brainstorming here really, so some feedback on this format would be greatly appreciated. Generally, I don't like that a person's attempt gives away so much for other viewers. But then again, it seems I got few attempts submitted because I required all 10 to be named.

I think 10 missions is a good number, more would be a bit much. Showing several locations from each... I don't know, I kinda like that it's only one, just like it was one screenshot in the Name that FM Game. But allowing to name as many as you can is definitely a good idea and should yield more attempts. Of course if you have a tie, the winner would be the first person to sumbit the highest number of correct answers.

As an added twist you could also include a couple of bird's eye view screenshots by using the 'unstick player' cheat, showing enough of the city or mansion etc to give players a hint of the mission but from angle that nobody has ever seen before. :sly:

Minor point here, but I don't think it's necessary to show the same scene for a full 2 minutes either. That's a bit long. You mentioned you were inspired by the trailer for The Black Parade, and those videos switch scenes every 15-20 seconds. IMO this contest video could have been 5 minutes total or so (as opposed to 20) and still been equally as effective.

Congrats to Klatremus for going through the effort of holding this contest, and congrats to skacky for nabbing the win. :)
As I mentioned to Klatremus, the only FM I wasn't 100% certain with was #6, and I was just stealguessing Psychosis's entry.
I dug around a bit, and The Hunt for Montrose is one of the few FMs I never completed, as I could never get past the gate at the start. That, combined with Kill the Guard, meant that I had a disadvantage of two entries as they were unfamiliar to me.
But with that said, as I saw that spider-infested room the first time, I faintly recalled an old FM I thought that could be from, but I had no idea where to begin to look for it. But wouldn't you know it, it was "Ramirez's Revenge" by Apache, which is part of a campaign that includes... The Hunt for Montrose. Which meant that my original, gut-feeling guess was *this* close.
Better luck next time, I guess... :)

Thanks for all the nice suggestions. I agree with Brethren that each scene could be shorter. Probably 20-30 seconds is fine. I don't think I will do open views from afar though, as I wanted the scenes displayed to be player's view, in order to trigger memories of being in that location. Open views of plazas or key areas would most likely reveal too much. Participants' attempts will definitely be submitted privately next time.

Nice to know I was correct on the four I thought I knew (Events in Highrock, Turning the Tables, DCE: Waking the Dead, and Fletcher's Final Mistake)! And yet I didn't even recognize The Hunt for Montrose, despite it being the only other mission on this list that I've played.
I definitely like this style of competition, though I agree that shorter scenes would be fine. And having all submissions be private might make the players more willing to openly discuss their guesses about certain missions and share hints with each other (or maybe it wouldn't, IDK).

This kind of competition is great fun, and I think you nailed the difficulty out of the gate. Even with one scene for 10 maps, it was solved in about a day, but it was a challenge. More scenes per map and it would have been trivial.

Thank you! However, skacky only got all 10 because he saw the answers others were giving. It would have taken longer for sure if all submissions were private. That's why if showing 2 scenes, keeping suggestions private, increase the number of missions to 12 or 15, plus letting anyone suggest only the missions they know and not have to name them all, be a fair modification. Good points though, I appreciate the input.
