What is the Event?
In the linked video, two locations from each of 12 different fan missions for Thief are featured. Do you recognize them? If so, show me that you are the real fan mission guru by naming them!
How do I Participate?
This time you can participate only by sending me a private message. You do not, however, have to suggest titles for all 12 missions. You can submit as few or as many as you'd like. I will reply privately and let you know which missions of the ones you suggested are correct. Each participant will get a maximum of 3 attempts. The contest will end at midnight Monday, June 6th.
What is the Prize?
The winner will be the person who has correctly named the most amount of missions by the end of the contest, or the first person to name all 12 missions. He or she will get to choose a Thief mission for me to feature on my Supreme Ghosting YouTube channel, and crown him or herself Master Taffer. :sly:
Please be mindful not to spoil too much when commenting. This event is meant to trigger a discussion around the featured missions, but your knowledge will also reveal information for other participants. For example, if you recognize a few of the missions, please do not just blurt out the names of those. Instead, you could perhaps give some loose hints (author, plot, release year), or participate in the contest yourself.
Any questions or constructive criticism on the format of the competition is welcome.
May the best taffer win! :thumb:

I know nobody has commented in this thread yet, but I have received multiple private submissions already, so thank you to the contestants. Keep it up! :thumb:

I recognized only three of the scenes. I don't remember which missions there were in though.

I set a personal goal of getting at least 7 missions right for this one.
After mulling over this for an hour, I sent in my first submission (of three allowed) and got 3 right, and 3 close calls.
Further research may help me get more right, but No. 7 will always elude me because I skip almost all joke/crap FMs (plus I don't wanna wake the sleeping treebeast).
Don't be afraid to send in your submissions! :D

Interesting conversation I had with klatremus:

Hello again, quick question regarding the Ambiance contest:
You said each participant has only three chances to guess. Does that mean three submissions of guesses, or three attempts to guess each one?
(I've got 7, 8 and 9 now, but I'm holding off on revealing my answers until you've cleared this up.)
To which I got this response (emphasis mine):

To make the submissions simpler to track, I allow three separate submissions of answers. Since you can submit as many or few as possible in each attempt, even if you submit only 1 mission, it still counts.
So you have given me 2 submissions so far, with 1 remaining. So I would hold off until Monday if you think you might have more missions then.
I have contacted klatremus twice in regards to this contest: A first batch of submissions (see post above) and then the question in this post. Nothing else. There is no second submission (yet) but klatremus clearly thinks otherwise, against common sense.
This is not how to run a contest.

If I understand correctly, you sent klatremus two personal messages and the second one did not contain any guesses. If this is correct, I think you should be allowed to send up to two more personal messages containing guesses.
I hope this can be resolved in a way where everyone is happy in the end. For me, the Ambience Competition is a fun way to reminisce about fan missions. :D

As observer, i liked the 1st competition better, since it was open to public and it felt somehow more 'competitive'.
That way you can read names of missions and go check them out, even if they were wrong answers.

I am very surprised that instead of contacting me privately about this matter, you post
private messages on a public forum. Not that I have anything to hide, but this was a small mistake that easily could have been cleared up. I simply mixed your submissions up with somebody else's and thought you had made two submissions, when you in fact only made one. That was my bad and I apologize. "This is not how to run a contest" I don't understand at all. What does this have to do with how the contest is run? It was a simple mistake, which as I said, could have been cleared up before you posted this opinion to everyone.

As an observer, of course it would be more interesting to see the submissions openly. But as a contest, I had no control over who knew what missions, and who just took suggestions from other submissions and used that to form their own submissions. Private submissions provide a more fair result, but also less info given to the public during the contest. I appreciate the feedback though.

Why are you even trying to drum up an issue over this LOL. This is a for-fun friendly competition not really meant to be taken all that seriously. Like Username said it just seems like an opportunity to talk about old missions and have a good time.
It’s really not that deep.
