So my brother wants to know what are those Glyphs and who are the Keepers. Also does pagan symbols have something occultist purposes or meanings. The answer depends on installing this best game trilogy on my brothers pc so i can enjoy it. :D . So tell me something about those Glyphs (Keeper mark text thing), pagan marks and those keepers.

Don't worry about the glyphs and deadly and all that. Just install The Dark Project. If you like that game, you may enjoy the other two...

The makers of the Thief games did incorporate occult lore into the games: Kabbalistic Tree of Life, The Third Eye, Akasha of Hindu philosophy, etc.
Also, the storyline of all three games revolves around objects with occult purposes i.e. resurrecting the dead, summoning spirits and opening gateways to other metaphysical planes.

I just want to know that in some page there was something about, well i put it in here. in (
www.ccgr.org) page there was this text in some about thief
Supernatural stuff: To me, anyone who complains about the supernatural in games is just plain silly. If you can't tell whats real and what's not, and trust that a guy can play a game and not want to start casting spells and zapping people, you really shouldn't be playing games at all. Nevertheless, this game contains a LARGE amount of supernatural stuff. Zombies, ghosts (In Shalebridege Cradle)
prophesies from sentient 'glyphs'(Ancient symbols which seem to have a mind of their own) spell-casting Pagan Shaman and Hammerite Priests, wierd and wonderful creatures/monsters (Pagan and others) and a whole lot more.
I marked the things that i want answer and knowledge. My brother expects that those glyphs and pagans and so on have some occultist meaning. My brother dont play PC games and dont get used to supernatural stuff by easy mind. I think that those glyphs dont have any occultist meaning, ill just think that its a game but some others think that it can be offensive by that SO CALLED occultism:confused: .
Answers to Questions please :(

Gamemakers of fiif series say grammar glyph is the important. Speling glif is to impotent. Glifs are the dangerous, not install, unless destroy calculator. Brother is warning.
What?

For the most part the glyphs are just symbols made up by the developers. They're there because they look cool and add a sense of atmosphere to things. You're not going to summon the devil by watching the intro movie.
They won't hurt you.

Ok so this guy's nutjob brother is worried that playing Thief will turn him into a wizard or something? Is this like those kids at school who wouldn't listen to Slayer in case they were turned satanic or something?

This is not the website of the people who made the Thief series, this is simply a forum where we, the players of Thief, hang out and discuss things. The company that made Thief is long out of business.

The symbols and magic element are fictional ... they don't represent any occult belief that anyone has in our world (unless they are a little too enthusiastic a fan, like k33pergrrl or something).
But in the Thief world, the game is definitely spiritual ... the characters in the game, the members of each faction, devoutly believe what they say, and their beliefs, and spiritual entities have real power in the game, even though it's fiction.
There is a mainstream church (Hammerites), a reformed church (Mechanists), spiritual animists (Pagans), naturalist magicians (Keepers), and a number of freelance spiritual entities like zombies and alchemists, etc.
Actually, what you wonder might be occult, the Keepers and their glyphs, they really aren't a religious group. They are more like an underground political group that just happens to use mainstream (in their world) magic as part of their mission, like the Masons or the Knights Templar. So "occult" isn't really accurate. Their goals are political, not religious. The glyphs have magical powers, but like a light switch has power to turn on a light. It doesn't involve belief in any system, just that magic co-exists with science in how their fictional world works.
Also, Garrett himself, the player character, stands apart from all the religions. In the game, he does not support any of the beliefs (except perhaps the Keepers at the very end, but like I said, that's political, not religious). In fact, he is positively against the other religious groups, even the Keepers, for most of the games. But he does have to deal with the magic and religious powers when they become a threat or opportunity. So while there is magic and religion, the player never has to take it seriously. It's just part of the game.
I hope that gives you a good idea to make a decision. I personally don't think it would be a problem, but anyway, to each their own. Hopefully this is enough information for you to know what's going on, though.
