So I finally upgraded to Windows 7, and I was looking around here for any tips on how to make Thief run on it, but couldn't find any helpful threads. The faq just seems to have tips on installation up to Windows Vista and I couldn't seem to find anything else. How do I make Thief 1, 2 and 3 compatible with Windows 7? Is it possible?

Windows 7 is, for all intents and purposes, a layer of additions atop Vista. Follow what is outlined in the FAQ for running the games on Vista and you'll be fine.

T1 and 2 run fine on Win7 x64 with ddfix. For T3 just run it as an admin.

Thanks! I'll try that.

For Thief 3, if you have a widescreen monitor, use both fov patch programs on the widescreengaming forum. One of them is used only if you get the load/exit freeze bug. If you find you can't pick locks or climb ladders, make sure to enable vsync, then use a program called Dxtory to limit the framerate to 58, which should eliminate the mouse lag caused by the vsync. Then make sure to check out the TDS tweak thread. Oh, not sure about this one, but if the multisampling in the game doesn't work that well, overriding it in the Nvidia control panel works great, 4x AA helps a ton, even at 1080p.

Ugh! Of course I didn't even think to check in the main gaming forum before posting here. Doy. .
Oh well, I found a thread there with one widescreen patch, but not two. Where is this second fov patch program?
Edit: Well, the game seems to work perfectly so I guess I don't need the second one. It did crash after a couple of hours of playing, though. Guess I'll have to look that up in the troubleshooting forums

Windows 7 is actually mentioned in the FAQ. If you're looking at the old thread by azal then that's the wrong thread. You need to find the newer thread that has WIP next to it that I made. I tried to get it stickied but it never happened; the thread has a similar title to the old FAQ.

sNeaksieGarrett, is your post in the Thief Series discusssion? I can't find what you're talking about. I can only find Azal's. I have Windows 7 and just got my copy of the Dark Project today! :cheeky:
