Hi all. This is my first post. i have been a fan of thief since the first day i started to play it, a couple years back now. Started with the dark project after which i was hooked as i guess all u other Th-heaves out there. Played deadly shadows next (had an incident with my metal age cd and a screw driver few years back). bought played enjoyed and finished metal age only near the end of last year.
Enough with the boring stuff. i guess what i want to know has already been discussed to futility, but i would like to know what other gamers think about seeing Thief as a movie on the Big Screen? who would you like to see play the lead? i kinda like the idea of john statham from the transporter with that raspy voice of his, could make it sound like garrett.
Thoughts?

Welcome to the forums!
My only advice is to never use "Th-heaves" again.
Or "u" instead of "you".

Hi SafriThief, welcome to the Thief Community! :) A Thief movie has been talked about numerous times. It could be interesting, but I can't see it happening. The franchise isn't big and marketable enough right now.

Cast unknowns. Voice and physical presence are most important, not distinctiveness.
Make it a miniseries. A film is too truncated and won't give enough time to flesh anything out.
Scripts have been attempted and only one got close to working, but a script for a single feature film would have to be so formulized for the unfamiliar audience to care about any character in short order, it wouldn't do well in theaters at all. The City needs fleshing out to a great degree, and if it goes live-action, the amount of CGI would be massive.

I have often thought a performance capture version ( as in Bewoulf ) of the Thief series would be a good way of preserving the essence of our beloved Garrett. Voice talent could be retained, the transition from game to movie would not seem as drastic. Few games have made an impact when commited to celluloid, Tomb Raider, Silent Hill. It is, after all, a pixleated world we have come to love, something live action could never come close to. Pie in the sky, I know, but just maybe. If Fred can have a movie then I can dream !
