yeah, tried with the new flames as well, but for the solution to be viable, it needs to work with all parts of TFix, and unfortunately, this is not the case. I'll probably go with the blobby flames until I'm ready to switch the maps to full NewDark.
Hm, I do not understand what this has to do with TFix? Isn't that only a matter of the EP to add those three little flame files?
I'm still convinced that this solution looks better than an SFX on the candle, and it even saves an additional object ...

as I plan to include this in TFix, the solution needs to work with all parts of it. someone would have to modify the existing EP models to include the flame. maybe I'll try that.

Cannot wait to see it happening. With this and HDmod, my personal Thief 1 experience will reach something close to perfection. :D

it's a map change, so not compatible with the hdmod. Gecko will have to reimplement it in the hdmod maps (should he decide that he wants working candles in his mod as well).

Aww, but it would be a worthy addition.

I will make the setup publicly available (it's not really mine to hoard, I've received a lot of help as always), and it's fairly easy to implement if I can say so myself - basically, as long as the candle concretes are set up properly (animlight, and optionally extralight so the lit candles won't look too dark) on the maps (and the models have proper vhots), all that is needed is two small edits to the gamesys and everything is ready to go. you also need to do some small extra stuff on all special (oversized, knocked down, or unlit on start) candles, but those are few and I'm using map dmls to do it - that means as long as Gecko fixes his maps and gamesys, hdmod will be compatible with TFix interactive candles.
setting up the candles on the maps is the rotten part, as you need to clean up the mess LGS left - animlights with improper values, rogue obj lights and omni lights placed near candles with no light, even dynamic lights in some cases. but once that is done, the rest is smooth sailing.
