I can not watch the movies out of game either on Media player with vista
Although they do work within the game. It does say missing codec
So I guess I am best to leave the indeo codecs alone? as they do play In game.

Question: Game wont play movie clips
Answer:
* Download and installed the indeo 5 codec -http://rapidshare.com/files/264816444/iv5setup.exe.html
* Click start, then run and type the following " regsvr32 ir50_32.dll "
* Go play thief....

i tried installing again and typed regsvr32 ir50_32.dll. i got an error message, saying the dll is loaded but it failed to get to Dllregisterserver with error 0x8000ffff.
jezus, i dont understand it anymore. cant play thief:(
edit: i cannot play it in windows, but i tried running thief with admin rights, now it does play ingame. so i think i am good 2go. still need to find a fix to play it in windows to.

just reinstall the indeo codec and typed regsvr32 ir50_32.dll and it should be fine.

Doesn't the newest version of MediaPlayer overwrite the Indeo Codec every time you start it? Or am I remembering something totally wrong (which never happens :rolleyes:).

Ugh! How horrible!
Here's what I've done for my XP, and I would hope something like this would work for Vista, too.
Having made the process.bat, as instructed in the FAQ, to execute when the codec stops working, I also made a shortcut on my desktop that links to the process.bat instead of the thief.exe and thief2.exe. I added the names of the respective *.exe as the last line of the process.bat ("thief" for TDP/Gold, and "thief2" for TMA, do the trick). So now when I click on the shortcut, it reinstalls the codec (so I don't waste time finding out it wasn't working first), and when I "press any key" the game starts. Could something like this be made for Vista, where all the necessary programs and tweaks, in the right sequence, are lumped into one batch file to ensure everything's in order?

perhaps that could be made, i hope everything will be okay when we got windows 7.
i dont have any problems now, i can go and play the game.:ebil:
