Not sure if anyones experienced this problem before, I've done some googling and as far as I can tell no one has.
I'm currently trying to play through The 7th Crystal, but whenever I look in the direction of the rooms (specifically the big stairway room north of the fountain/garden) my game crashes.
This has happened to me once before in another fan mission, but it was a few years ago and I can't recall which one. It was the same issue, whenever I looked in the direction of or entered a specific room, the game would crash without fail.
The strange thing is that this wasn't happening earlier, I was going through this big stairway room with no issues, now all of a sudden I can't even LOOK at the room.
I was wondering if anyone knows why this is happening, or has a fix if they've experienced it before.

I have tried to replicate that crash, but my game doesn't do anything unusual in that room or the rooms around it. Neither does anything suspicious happen in the library nearby, which also is a large room with a staircase. I tried to make the game crash by using the Enhancement Pack 2, which places a noticeable load on my machine because of the more detailed textures used then, but still no crash. The game just stutters a little bit every now and then, which appears to be common for my machine when using the EP2.
meprim, what has been changed in your game setup/configuration between the moment when it still ran without issues and now? Are you using any graphics intense mods, like the EP2 or the HDMOD?

Although I don't think the question is directed at me, I'll still answer it: My Thief 2 is NewDark v1.27, made with T2Fix v1.27e.:)

Yes, sorry I should have mentioned what fixes I tried.
I tried reinstalling and updating T2Fix, just in case that was causing it, tried a couple things with the cam_ext, which didn't work either and tried a different download of the fan mission, as well as restarting both downloads from the beginning to see if maybe it was something I'd triggered in my first attempt at the level. The only thing I haven't tried is reinstalling Thief 2 from the ground up. I played around with a couple other fan missions, just to see if it was an issue with my game or not, but everything else ran fine, including very open and large missions, just to check it wasn't 7th Crystal pushing the engine too far towards its limits (which I thought unlikely anyway, its not a particularly demanding mission, and neither is the room in question that I can't look towards).

To my knowledge there aren't any configs or settings that I've changed. I don't play with any enhancement packs and outside of the bare minimum fixes that come with T2Fix I don't run any mods or graphics enhancements. Outside of updating T2Fix a few months ago, and again last night, I haven't messed with any configs or settings in years, I dont think.
As of just now, the issue persists, which is a real shame because I was loving it, just the FM I wanted for the winter/christmas time of year.
It's strange that I can't come across anyone else who's experienced this problem with some FMs, initially I thought it must just be the FM I mentioned playing a few years back, but as its not happening with 7th Crystal too, I'm not worried about it happenign with future FMs.
Thanks for the responses anyway, I hope someone can give me some assistance because it's definitely an annoying issue, making some really great FMs mostly unplayable.

Sounds like something is overloading Dromed which can't cope and so crashes.
Is anything showing in your monolog, if your overloading Dromed you may see 100's of the same line of object/s, alternatively can you post a save just before the mission crashes, check your monolog before and after the crash.
It maybe that your best option would be to completely re-install your Thief game and restart the mission.

I'd gladly have a look to see if this is the issue, unfortunately I'm not super familiar with Dromed, where would I be able to find the Monolog?
If this doesn't help at all, I'll give reinstalling a try.

Monolog is in you main Thief folder.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something, Dromed has nothing to do with this. He's not editing the mission here, he's playing it. And the monolog is only used for editing.
What he needs to look at is the thief.log or the crash.dmp (thanks to the folks in #Dromed for the info on this).
