Hello. I am trying to get Thief 1 to run on Win 7 with an Nvidia 460 GTX vid card. I can get Thief itself to run by simply enabling compatability mode, but anytime I try to start a mission it freezes at a black screen. I'm assuming this (given what I've read) is due to my video drivers. Currently the driver version is 275.33. I can't go lower than 256. Does anyone know anything I can do to get Thief 1 to run properly?
Thanks ahead of time.

Try ddfix. The game works on my GTX460 without it, but it will still fail because of my six-core CPU. :) The game crashes if it isn't confined to one core.

Well my CPU is single core, so I know that isn't a problem.
As for ddfix, it creates two additional problems when used. The first is that I get an error about DirectX 6 or higher not being installed, to which I say 'continue anyways'. The second is that it then requests a CD...as the exe overwrites my no-cd, and I'm running off a virtual backup of my old CD (bought the game long ago, but the CD was scratched to where I couldn't use it, so I resorted to no-cds). Note that I haven't tried to play this in about 7 years, and my last comp wasn't anywhere near this 'modern'.

Is your directx up to date? I would tell you what video driver I'm using, but I can't because I'm not in Windows right now.

I had to update DirectX not that long ago, so yeah it is. Running at v11.

Edit: wait. Looking for a TafferPatcher for Thief 1. NVM, I'm broken
