When thief 1 was released i played the game avidly..then i got to a very strange level ( and i never understood the concept behind it)....so i hope someone could clarify......the level with the flaming spheres! This level made me lose interest in the game......i just never understood it.

No,not the boneyard. It was about 3/4 of the way through the game. There was a level where you had to avoid these flamin spheres.. like suns. I never understood the concept behind it, i mean what the hell were they supposed to be?
Come on, someone must know the level i'm talking about :)

Well can't you go in game and grab the name yourself? Or its not installed. With your forum name, I'd would think you'd love those guys. They are easy to get around, water arrows.

I think you are writing about The Lost City. Do the following seem familiar?
- Secret entrance in a waterway, opened with the special key you found in the Keeper hideout.
- Underground caves, waterfall, climbing down to caves with lava
- Buildings with auto-lighting blue lights and patrolling burricks.
- Egyptian style architecture.

Yep, seems it was the 'Lost City'. Had a look at (

Looks like they were fire elementals under the auspices of the trickster ( whoever the heck that was)
You must understand, when i first played the game i never really got into the 'thief world' as it were.
But now thats a bit clearer it makes the level less outlandish ;)

If you're not making a joke here, and you really don't know who the Trickster is, I
strongly suggest you replay Thief 1!
