I'm planning to buy one of those cheap Acer laptops... I'm also planning to have some fun with it while working and it would be neat to have TDS work on it too.
Acer 5000 series have SIS M760GX with following specs. I would appreciate alot if someone knew by the information below if it can run TDS.
Key Features Mirage
Mirage 2
M760, M760GX
H/W DirectX
DX8.1
S/W DirectX
DX9
Features in GPU
Pixel Shader 1.3 (TDS requires pixel shader 2.0, yes?)
Pipeline

Polygon rate (polygon/s)
20.8M
Bump mapping
Yes
Cubic mapping
Yes
Non-power of 2 texture size
Yes
Scaling tape
2-tap horizontal and 2-tap vertical

uh, I think search gave me the needed answer.
I take it TDS requires pixel shader 1.1 and once that SIS M760GX has 1.3 I shouldn't worry, or should I? I don't know much about the new fancy features vid cards have these days...

That's onboard video, right? I would bet it won't work

Whether or not it works, the performance would almost certainly make the game unplayable.
That's software DX9 support.

Well, if it would even work, heck the performance.
You see, while mapping with UED, it is needed to see the results ingame.
So, technically yes?

Hmm.... I could be way off, but I think I read somewhere the game is techincally unplayable on laptops. I don't have any link to back that statement up, though.

There's nothing true about it not being playable on laptops. Dozens of us, myself included, currently have it installed on our laptops. All that matters is whether the video card/setup can run it, and I have my doubts about this case.

A lot of people misunderstood the phrase, "not supported" as will not work. All "not supported" means is that Ion Storm/ Eidos will not provide technical support if you install it on a laptop. Any up to spec laptop should play the game. :)
