It's always been that way with Garrett in the shadows. I don't like it either. They did that for the Xbox console babies who might "lose" Garrett in the shadows and have a hawd time pwaying theiw wittwe game

Not the same. I know what you're talking about - the semi-'glow' around Garrett in the dark that makes it so you can keep track of him (who the hell is going to lose track of him?). But this is different - it's like someone covered Garrett in a semi-transparent white blanket whenever he goes into the darkness. it's never happened when I've had the game installed before, and the only reason I can think of that it's happening is because of the texture pack (since I've run Minimalist and the animation tweaks before without this, but I've also run John P's custom Garrett textures before without this problem).

I seem to have a slight problem with my Garrett model textures, but I'm not exactly sure where the problem comes from.
I made a clean install of Thief 3, as suggested. I then installed the Patch, then the Collective Texture Pack, then Minimalist 1.4, then finally the Animation Tweak 1.6. When I load up the game, Minimalist, the new animations, and all the new textures seem to work fine except Garrett's. Whenever he's in shadow, he appears to be covered with a layer of white. When Garrett's in the light the problem goes away, but whenever I step back into the shadows it comes up again.
Any ideas?
I think NH (since he got rid of 3rd person) made Garrett stand out more for the Minimalist.

That's the thing though - I know 3rd person was disabled for Minimalist, but since installing your animation tweaks it seems to have been re-enabled, and since then I've had no problem switching between 1st and 3rd. No animation or graphical glitches of any kind. I also had installed ALL of John P's single custom textures for the game.
Then the collective pack came out. I uninstalled all Thief 3 stuff, then reinstalled Thief 3, patch, collective texture pack, Minimalist, then animations. And now whenever I switch to 3rd person view, Garrett is coloured with a milk white cover, which has NEVER happened before.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I did ask NH once, but he never got back to me about it. There was a thread on the T3Ed forum about the matinees and I wanted to get rid of it because the camera separates from Garrett & floats about, that's when I noticed he was taking milk baths (only when Minimalist was installed).

So it's a Minimalist problem then?
The reason I never assumed so was because I've had Minimalist installed with 3rd person enabled, but I've never had the problem until now.

I'll try to see if there's anything I can do. Perhaps it's something that happens when you combine my pack with NH's Minimalist.
I've only altered the 'frob highlight' when it comes to these 'glow'/halo effects, and I know that this also affects the lighting up of dead and unconscious people, but I wouldn't think it would affect Garrett.
But if it isn't the Minimalist effect in itself, and not my pack in itself, then perhaps it's the combination that does something weird (because the game perhaps uses two 'glow' effects in combination for Garrett).
I haven't seen the very bright 'glow' effect shown in your screenshot when only having installed my pack, though. If anything (if this has to do with my 'frob highlight'), it should be darker than default, as my frob highlight is quite a lot darker than the original version.
I'll see if I can reproduce the same problem here (only using my pack).

I remember this happening with a frob highlight batch tweak thing I used on the demo. Sorry I can't remember more, but it was when the demo first came out, and I haven't started thief 3 yet.

Ahh, sorry about that ascottk. That effect is part of the reason I disabled 3rd person in Minimalist...well, aside from not wanting it in Minimalist. :)

any way of fixing it? what's causing it from the MTP?
