Greetings,
I just completed the Cradle mission, after I avoided it for several years :) However, I don't understand a simple question - perhaps the most confusing one in my history of playing Thief.
It's obvious that Garrett has to trick the Cradle into thinking he's dead. However, by jumping into the past, he appears to have landed safely outside. This makes totally no sense. Or perhaps I'm missing something out of the whole time travel thing. Or just Ion Storm screwed up the storyline?

From my understanding and memory playing the game (and it has been a while)
Laurel told Garrett that now that he was trapped in her world for good, he had to make the Cradle think that he killed himself. There's no real reason why Garrett didn't die from the fall but my theory is that it simply spit Garrett out at the next possible exit that existed in his world. Seeing as the top part of the Cradle was caved in and destroyed, it wouldn't have existed in Garrett's world.

Oh...
I've yet to see proper time fiction in a video game...
It always ruins the experience... and IS NOT IMMERSIVE...
