To the OP: So pretty much everything. I agree, but one thing: Try Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. You get a bow that shoots rope arrows in that and they have some brilliant rope physics.
Damn, forgot all about that. Arkane did a great job with the rope arrows. Although I enjoyed DM, I had a lot of technical issues with it on my old system and, as a result of which, never got around to replaying it. I never had the problem that Gvozdika mentioned either. In fact, I didn't come across any issues with the rope arrows in DM that I can recall.

Just one question... if re-united TDS maps were published, would anyone care to design new map drawings? I think I got seven or eight "golden" maps which just need a bit of texture overhaul and a few little things adjusted and then they'd work in the game.
The people reuniting the levels would need to create placeholder pages for more maps because the maps should separate different floors on different pages. There's just one small problem and it's the fact that in TDS there isn't a script that selects the correct map from the map screen based on which floor the player currently is in, only which part of the level he is in.
Of course there is also the possibility of making the map smaller and having multiple floors parallel on the same page but that could get a bit tricky. ...wait, what am I talking about? This is not Xbox. The players aren't sitting 15m away from the screen on a sofa, small details are in fact allowed. :)

Try the secret room backtracking from the place where the bow is found ( has a chest with potions and poison bow(?) ). Jumping the rope there while its still swinging gives me an about 70% chance of clipping through the wall.
