Problem in that I don't have any. :erm:
I've installed the game and patched it to 1.1 and after the opening videos of Eidos etc (Which do have sound) I get to the main menu and nary a peep to be heard, nor on the opening briefing.
I'm running it on a P4 2.8, 2GB RAM, Audigy 2 and a 6800GT.
I did a search but found nothing that matched my problem, so apologies if I've missed something.

I had a problem recently where i had to turn a setting or two off and then re-enable in the Thief options. This did the trick for me. Hope it helps.

I have a different sound problem, and I apologize if it's already been taken up elsewhere.. I've been gone from the forums a long time.
I played through the first mission of DS a couple of days ago, and experienced some odd sound behaviour in the tower that leads to the noblewoman's chambers... If you recall, in that section a non-combatant woman hangs around at the base of the stairs, and a guard patrols up and down the staircase.
I found that, at the top of the tower, I could hear everybody below me perfectly, as though there were no distance separating us.. It was really jarring, as I'm used to relying on sound to know where everybody is.
I take it this is a fairly common problem, and probably one linked to bad EAX behaviour or something... has anyone experienced this? If so, can I fix it?

It seems to be a problem with that tower only, as I've had it in that area and that area only in the game. As far as I know, there is no proper fix for it.

Ah.. Well, that's encouraging. I'll stop worrying now! :cheeky:
