Well, I know that some people didn't like the idea to make a campaign for Thief 2 so they didn't work for Thief2x. Their idea was a new engine, a new Thief- like game. What happened to them?

No, no, Dark Mod is new. The project I'm talking about is very old.

There've been a fair number of such projects proposed, but TDM is the only one I know of that's actually gotten off the ground. I think TDM's in its second or third year of development, so it's not all that new.

I do believe we will be two years old in the fall. :)

I might be wrong, but I think I have an idea of what you are talking about.
T2X was originally part of two projects. When LGS went down someone posted a thread and asked for help on making a fan-made T3. Several people liked the idea and joined. I believe there were two teams, one making T2X and the other working on T3 (and a completely new engine). Either that or the whole team was working on T2X, then planned on working on T3 afterwards. Anyways once people found out that T3 was being developed by Ion Storm, they decided to focus their time solely on T2X.
I hope I got all that right. This is all from my memory.

Taffer36, thanks for that little flashback, I remember now when those projects first started up. Here's a good link:

I believe Lytha was partially involved in writing the plot for the T3 FMP.

Interesting...so in the early days, there was a team modifying the Quake 3 engine? Too bad they didn't follow through really. Since Quake 3 went open source last year, the community would have already had their own Thief engine to modify and play with.
