Does anyone know if there are any upcoming Thiefy gatherings in the UK?
Also, a proper full-blown annual convention would an awesome thing to attend in the future sometime.
Dressing up as Thief characters, a few computers set up for Thief muliplayer, handmade merch by some of our artsy Taffers, fresh bread, cheese, deer legs and ale.
Potion bottles which are just filled with juice.
Maybe even a LARP event on the night.

I remember Sat saying something about doing something like that, but I haven't heard anything in a while.

But he's a useless git so no use asking him to do anything. :D
Biker had a very successful meet - there should be a thread about it somewhere in ThiefGen. And he was asking a while back if anyone was interested in another one.

Would be great if we could have a Thief UK meet up.
Providing we can get a few people attending, it would be a question of:
Location
Date/Time
I'm def. interested

AH yes, I remember Bikerdude's extremely successful meet back in '09. Alas, I was too young and too moneyless to go :(
Greetings to you LordBafford my friend :cheeky:
My theory is this:
A location, date and time, kept pretty much the same EVERY year. (we can try :ebil:)
And eventually, it may take 2 annual events, maybe 5. But eventually these repeated events get large. Because people who missed the first two, realise that they can just catch the 3rd, or 4th, or 5th.
And if they're epic and awesome events, those people will return. With more people.
Then in the end, this annual event becomes a CONVENTION. Imagine that. A Thief Convention :D
If there's not enough demand to MAKE a convention, the Thief meet could expand to make a Thief/System Shock convention. OR a 'All Hail Looking Glass' convention.
And it will have it's own website, ticket costs will be pooled back into the event itself, to secure the venue/caterers ect).
Maybe this forum will have it's own Official Thief Convention Discussion part.
Anyway. The place and time would preferably be in equal distance from all UK attendees locations. For safetys sake lets just say....Northampton. (I'm going there for the Return to Middle Earth convention in Nov for my honeymoon )
This chosen location (Northamton) will have to have an abundance of public transport. And large places like this usually do. Even a return train fare there for two adults from the middle-of-nowhere is very reasonable :D
And in this chosen location, preferably a bar/tavern/hotel will be chosen to meet :sly:
But yeh, we'll need a guest list really, before the location is decided. If we're going to have it equal distance (give or take 10-50 or so miles).

Sounds okay so far.
I agree that a central location in the UK would probably be best if people are from all over the place. As mentioned in order for it to become a convention it would most likely need to build up a name for itself (experience). Secondly, there'd be a bigger catchment if it were a Looking Glass convention as that would appeal to a wider fan base (I love the Thief, System Shock, Flight Unlimited and Ultima Underworld Series.
So realistically if it were to go ahead, the first year would be a Taffer meet up.
For convenience sake it may be good if the meet up takes place in the hotel where people stay? If not, would be fine if the meet up is in a local pub (near the hotel).
