Thief Gold & Intel 810 problem. Help! - by varunb

Recently I tried to install to Thief Gold on my pal's pc. He's got Intel 810 chipset with updated graphic drivers. After installing, when v tried to launch the game, the game locked up with a black screen. We restarted the pc & launched it again but still the same thing happened. I know that its because of the incompatibility of Intel 810 drivers (Direct 3D problem) with Thief Gold. When we turned off the 'Hardware Aceeleration' mode under the video tab, then the game ran fine but the graphics in the software rendered mode were awful. Is there some way to run the game with Hardware Acceleration mode turned on ? Are there any patches available to remove this bug ? Pls, anybody help!

You need to edit the user.cfg file in the Thief 2 or Thief Gold folder on the hard drive. Open the user.cfg file with notepad, and remove the ; (semicolon) from the beginning of the line that says "safe_texture_manager " This change will become active when the file is saved.
