Hello, I recently purchased a pack that contained all 3 Thief Games, Thief 1 being Gold. The company that issued the pack was called Mastertronic. I have a Windows 7 64-bit system with an AMD Phenom 6-core 1090T, Asus AMD 890FX motherboard and an ATI Radeon HD 6870.
The games all open normally, without any patches, run widescreen, play the videos, but 5 minutes into the game and the game crashes. Or rather, it just freezes.
I tried DDfixing both games with DDfix 1.5.11 and I changed the widescreen resolutions as well (basically followed all this to the letter (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449)) and now they both crash before I can even load them.
Thief III runs smoothly. Any suggestions??

I am tempted to just go ahead and say that the fact that Deadly is even on your system is the reason that the first two games dont work. :ebil:

Change your Thief shortcut to:
Target: cmd /c start /affinity 1 thief.exe
Start in: {your Thief folder with full path, should be already there}
If you experience sound stuttering, try /affinity 2 instead of /affinity 1 .

I believe the ddfix 1.5 series applies multicore fix, no?

tried 1.5.8 didn't work.
Thx DJ Riff, I forgot about the affinity. After I made the post, I remembered it and changed them manually from the Task Manager, thx for the piece of code, it's gonna be useful :)
Suprisingly enough, Deadly Shadows is the only one that made no bug yet :P not even the jumping bug when garret freezes midair :P
thx for all the help guys

Well that's not so surprising. Thief 3 is based on an engine with better comparability, whereas the proprietary Dark Engine for the first two was made to run best on the systems of its time.
But if you've got it (thief gold/2) working now then go back to 1.5.11, if you haven't already.

It doesn't work sometimes. Even patching the .exe with FlipTIB or imagecfg doesn't work sometimes.
