Hey, Ive been searching the web for anything about a (what i thought was a pretty obvious secret) in this level. but theres not a word about it anywhere.
If you tail the assassins to Ramirez place, and then head back to the city, you go to the area of the city where there is cauldron with molten steel, head past it and jump down into the water channel at the end of the street. There is a stone symbol under the water which highlights when you look at it. It has an indentation as if an object would fit into it, and there is a "door" to the left of it, or a beveling of the stone which looks like it would open if you had the right object to place into the stone marking.
Why cant I find any info on this online? Ive searched multiple walkthroughs and secrets and hints sites of this level and no one writes anything about it. So has anyone figured it out? where do you find the object to open the door?

Good find! It comes into play in a later mission. You can't do anything with it now. You will get what you need to unlock it, then you will return to that area to use it. So you can relax...you didn't miss the object to open it in Assassins!, now go back and show Ramirez who the Master Thief is!

Wait, if you've beaten Thief before, how on earth did you miss that door? Cause that door is kinda quest-important...

He didn't miss it, he found it four missions early.:D Not remembering how Thief Gold played out is more indicative that the experience wasn't that special the first time.

well when you go back to that area a few missions later, it is slightly changed from before. its weird but the door is there under the water, but the wood planks above it have changed, there is also other areas of the street which are changed from when you go there in the Ramirez mission. I thought it was a different secret door. would have been cool if there was a way to go there in Assassins, and it would have just been a short trip down into the water but something nice to be found and then gets blocked off until you go there later. anyway...
