Wow, i can`t believe it, it was just as you said. I load one of the Crashing savegames restart the mission and voila! It runs perfectly, aparently it WAS the damm equipment menu :S
Thank you very much :D

Huh! I wasn't actually thinking that would be a solution, in fact quite the opposite. But glad we could get somewhere ;)

I have read the faq MANY times (i had issues with the texture improvement patchs), but my problem is not answered in there, i search the forums and found nothing...so i made a topic.
Oh, I didnt know that. :) You forgot to put it in your Thread, and I seem to have misplaced my ESP helmet.
Politics.
:p

You want politics?
You posted a link to the FAQ without checking whether the problem the thread starter experienced was mentioned in the FAQ at all (it isn't), nor apparently even reading what his or her problem was in the first place. Had Moscato not already read the FAQ looking for information that isn't in there, you would have wasted even more of his or her time by making him or her fruitlessly do so.
And then you give a snotty, redundant reply implying that he or she was somehow remiss for not mentioning that they'd scoured an FAQ that you were too lazy to even skim the headings of before linking?

Nice one, Vigil.
You people have already had this argument...
Why should the average user read the FAQ *for* them? I merely linked to it because he made no mention of it...
I think the one you meant to bark at was dethtoll? Or perhaps someone else. Certainly not me.
:)
Vigil on 20/8/2006 at 22:17
No, I meant to bark at both of you. I'm tired of lazy, snide tech-help, and linking an FAQ that doesn't contain an answer to a problem you didn't read comes right under that heading. If you're not prepared to do those simple things, then don't waste people's time.

Yes sir!

The man/woman speaks logic I say. Here here, taffer!
Goldmoon Dawn on 24/8/2006 at 05:29
Yes, well then. I shall say this:
Everyone here knows that these types of threads generally sour quickly. I didnt care too much for the whole -assuming I didnt read his post- thing, but hey.
The truth, Vigil, is that I did in fact read his post. And all of yours too. What I have *never* read, is the FAQ.
:)
I've never needed it. I've always played Thief I and II on the same old Win98 700Mhz system.
So, merely linking to the FAQ in this situation is more than fair then.
Yes, quite right.

I'm no longer leap-down-people's-throats angry about this, and this isn't my attempt to have the last word on everything.
But.
Please read the FAQ before you recommend it to people to solve their problems. If you don't know what is and isn't in there, or don't check before posting, then you can waste a user's time needlessly hunting for information that isn't there. This is not a fair thing to do. The person is already frustrated from their game not working, they don't need the added frustration of being curtly told to look somewhere that doesn't answer their question. It's like emailing tech support for your computer, explaining exactly what the symptoms are, and getting a canned reply back that's nothing to do with what you wrote, telling you to check if the power cable is plugged in or not.
If you can't think of a specific answer to a person's problem and don't want to go through the FAQ at least once to see what's in there, then simply don't post. Leave the tech-help to people who have read the FAQ and do know whether it contains an appropriate solution or not.
