Of course there's always the possibility that the guide is wrong in case I never tried "set text_message_margins x y")
No, I'm probably doing it wrong. I just coudn't make it work that way.

You're doing nothing wrong. I tried it: text_message_margins has to be set in user.cfg. It does not work from the console.

You can bind the console to a key by putting something like this in your user.bnd file:

I just upgraded to a widecreen (16:10) monitor recently, and most games that I have can run in a widescreen resolution. I'd like to continue playing Thief Gold, but I get the 4:3 video stretched, obviously. Reading the above posts, it seems that it's possible to make Thief II (and, I'm guessing, Thief Gold, too) run in widescreen. Can someone post a concise summary of how to do that, please? Much thanks!

Anyone, anyone?

Why don't you do it yourself? It's all explained in detail in this thread. All you have to do is to read some posts. If you have questins, ask. But don't expect us to carry you there.

I did read, I'm just not sure what to do. Why is Dromed mentioned, etc. I'm not very familiar with these things, so that's why I'm asking for a summary.

All you need to know is in Yamtha's big post with the two pictures (I tried it myself, it isn't hard to do.)
Dromed is the map editor for Thief. It should come on the Thief Gold and Thief 2 CDs with a Readme on how to use it.
