Hi everyone
This would sound like a repeatedly asked question..... I've install Thief Gold, the intro movies and cutscences worked fine, and i thought there wasnt any problem. But when i actually play the game. It freezes and stops every now and then. At the 1st time the game freezes when i try to draw my sword, next it was when i try to kill a guard with the sword ( sneak up from the back for the one hit kill ), the whole thing stopped right before i land my attack on the guard, the 3rd one was when i jumped into the water, it freeze right before i touch the water surface. The following is worse......i loaded into the game and freezed like after 5 seconds, the 5th is the game never loaded.....it stops after the mission briefing, this time the screen stayed black.
When the game freezes it usually appears normal... by that I mean there is no funny looking shape on the screen, nor dide the screen turned completely white or black. It is like the whole game was paused like a DVD movie, except the background ambient music still runs.
I've decided to post this thread even after I saw people with simliar problem as mine, because they all had nVidia Cards, while I'm using ATI
My card is Radeon X1600 Series AGP 256MB
CPU Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 Ghz
1GB RAM
Microsoft Windows XP Professional version 2002 with Service Pack 2

helped me to install the game, but didnt answer the question I'm having now.
Please, can some one help me? if theres any essential information I didnt provide please tell me:(

Oh, I imagine someone in the know will be prancing by soon enough.
I myself dont know.
It's strange that ever since the FAQ was brought into question over relevancy, ThiefGen has been flooded with seemingly unique tech help questions.

did you make sure to uncheck CPU1 in the taskmanager? that could be the problem.

if you're using a pentium 4 it's a hyperthreading issue, not a dual-core issue, but the end result- and the solution- is the same.
