I haven't played Thief Gold in ages, and while I couldn't get the videos to work in-game, I was at least able to play the game. I have Windows Vista, by the way.
Anyway, everything was running smoothly until I got to that Mages Guild level, and in...possibly the air tower (the one that's practically all tile...) I got to a particular part where there's apparently a bunch of floating platforms moving up and down, where I would, under regular circumstances, hop on and go up. But when I got there, there wasn't even any platforms, and I had no idea why. I had to look up a walk through just to see where to go, which is when I learned about them. Anyway, I guess I was wonder if anyone else had encountered this problem, and if they know how to fix it. Would simply starting the level all over again work?
I hope I don't have to skip the level... Oh yeah, and I'm apologizing in advance if I've posted this in the wrong place, or if someone else had already asked the same thing.

It's a classic bug. Your only options are mission skip (ctrl+shift+alt+end), reloading an earlier save of it and hoping for the best, or restarting the level and hoping for the best. :erg:

I am having a problem with the Mages Guild also. When I go inside, the celings are metal and there is no way to use my rope arrows to get to the chest that the other key is in. I looked at the walkthrough and the screen shot's don't look like my game. Could my cd be missing something? It installed and loads just fine.
Thanks,

Wow... weird... I've never seen anything like that, and Mage Towers was one of my favorite missions. I've completed it several times without issue.
Perhaps we should compare checksums of our mission files to see that they are the same? I would also be interested to know what triggers this problem. What file name is the mission called?
