Thief Gold sound issues... - by Asaki

I'm having doubts that I'll find a solution, as it's probably because I'm using an old sound card...I found one other thread where someone was having the same problem, and he also had a Yamaha card...that thread was from 2004 or so, though, and had no replies =/
Anyway, his problem was with non-Gold, so I'm sure it applies to both games...every once in a while, the sound will just cut out completely...after about a minute, it comes back. I have the latest 2000 drivers installed for the card (Yamaha DS1 WDM?), so I'm not exactly sure what I can do, other than be patient and hope I beat the game soon (since it hasn't happened in any other games). Anyone have any ideas?

are you playing with hardware acceleration on? I have found the audio in Thief to be buggy if playing with acceleration on with a non Creative or Aureal sound card.
If you don't have hardware sound on, try opening dxdaig and set the audio acceleration to low or none and see if that solves the problem.

I have the exactly same problem!!! I am using the same driver as you do. It's a yamaha card as well.
It used to work fine when I was using win 98 years ago.
