I think he means it's not an extensive texture replacement pack, like, for example, ZB's SHTUP.

SHTUP predominantly upgrades object textures, so the Thief Enhancement Pack fills that role. Albert's talking about upgraded terrain textures.

With ZB you have to forget about whether or not he's being nice and focus on what he's saying.
There's nothing in the instructions about putting "+./fam" in install.cfg, so don't do it. In fact, that's what stops the updated textures producing any sounds.
All you need to do is extract the files. It will also be very useful if at some point you've let Darkloader optimise the thief folder, so that the .crf files are in RES or crfs.

Hey, I'm starting Thief Gold too, I have the oRGy's texture pack installed? Because I'm not sure to have followed the correct path, I just have substituted the ones in the fam.crf with those of the patch.
