Hello,
I just downloaded and installed The Thief Gold TGTool 1.0.4.0 (I hope this gave me the latest and greatest patch/enhancment/whatever for this game) I already had Thief Gold installed before i launched this update.
Everything is GREAT!!!!! except :(
for some reason, the walk forward key defaults to creep now. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have tried everything i can think of!!! I tried first using the default thief gold key binds and its the same crap!
every other key works normally like walk backwards, slide left, slide right crouch etc......
I dont know whats wrong i never had this problem before installing the TGTool 1.0.4.0.
PLEASE HELP as the game is unplayable like this.
thanks

you need to patch up with the patcher, then go options/customize controls/load. you might need to reinstall the game to undo the tgtool changes.

So i was wrong in installing TGT tool????
why is this so confusing i went on this forum and found the TGT tool and its supposed to make this game run awesome on newer win7 pc's right????????
why are there so many different damn patches!!!!??
So are you saying that the latest TGT tool sucks??
are you saying that i should reinstall the game from scratch and just run this patch?? what about all the bells and wistles that tgt tool gives you for bloom and enhanced graphics and stuff?

well, that's a lot of question marks. lets see then - right now, you have two choices;
tfix - installs NewDark engine and makes the necessary edits to the config files to enable T1/TG mode. no advanced configuration ("keeping things simple" is the motto here). mission fixes to better accommodate the NewDark engine. fixed resources and bugs. offers enhanced resources as an optional install. support for all T1/TG releases out there, no matter what language or source. includes batch files to run with bloom (enhanced.bat) or safemode (safemode.bat) enabled, without changing the configuration files directly. quite large in size (100-150MB). requires no internet connection after downloading.
tgtool - based on ss2tool sources (but no other connection to ss2tool's author or systemshock.org - the sources are freely available, anyone can download them and make a patcher of his own), installs NewDark engine and makes the necessary edits to the config files to enable T1/TG mode. allows you to configure some of the more advanced options during install (bloom etc). no mission fixes, no resource fixes, no bugfixes. small to download, but requires internet connection when patching.
only TFix is linked on TTLG as far as I'm aware, tgtool originated from the steam forums. as for which one is better, that's up to you I suppose, but I have to add that the mission fixes are quite important, as running T1/TG with the new engine will introduce some new anomalies which need to be fixed manually. one way or another, both tfix and tgtool should allow you to run the game on a modern pc, and complete it without critical bugs.
and yes, if you want to switch to TFix, a clean reinstall is recommended.

There was a sound enhancement pak that was posted on "The Thief Circle.com" that i downloaded for Thief Gold. This sound enhancement pak cleans up the and improves the quality of the sounds in thief gold and thief metal age. Is this included in your TFix? will i have to re-install this mod after using Tfix?. Also i had to do some manual work to get the Monkeys in the mission "Escape" to load the texture's correctly. Is this fixed by default with the TFix patch? These are the only concerns i have about re-installing the game from scratch. I implemented these mods/fixes a very VERY long time ago and i dont want to have to figure out how to install/fix them again.
please let me know
thanks

apemen are fixed, sound pack is not included, but there is one folder available for any mods you might wish to install - USERMODS, as long as you drop the mod files and folders there (they must NOT reside within their own folder, see the (
https://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=4447.0) pictures here), they should be loaded automatically. do not modify any cfg files (most old mod readmes will tell you to do that), as you will break things, most likely.
edit: just checked - to install the sound pack properly, open the pack with 7zip, open NewT1SFX.7z, extract the SFX folder. create a SND folder inside the USERMODS folder, and move the SFX folder there. done.
