There is certainly something spellbinding about this FM. Whenever I play it (finished, but still not 100%!), it induces a trance-like state in me that persists for the rest of the night.
also, that dude hidden in the ruins creeps me the hell out!
The story was great. I really loved the sense of urgency instilled from the start. The beginning made me want to kill every human enemy I encountered (unlike the undead, whom I largely let roam), which is rare in Thief! Fortunately, we are given ample means to wreak pain here, too ;) .

One manner of replay I foresee in this FM is
1. Going full pacifist and not harming a single critter.
2. Playing until I get the ???
3. Unleash all hell upon everyone!

Finally finished the mission. Nicked's missions are always something that you have to mentally work yourself up to in order to play-I mean that in a good way. Very much enjoyed it! There have been quite a few Thief missions coming out that have the feel of the old 'silver screen' horror movies. This one captured that feel. I also appreciated all the references to other missions and topics in the library.
Someone mentioned earlier that the mission has a trance like affect and I second that! I remember I stumbled into the ruins without completing the primary objective and I wandered around the ruins listening to the music and soaking in the desolate atmosphere and became completely immersed in the ambience...like I was trapped in a Gothic painting. The music pairing with the different parts of the mission was spot on.
The community appreciated this and every mission that comes out. I always try not to bother new authors about when their material will come out because at the end of the day...they are doing this as a favor. We wait for stuff like this to be released. Thank you!

You need to
get on the roof of the inn where you started. An easy place to do this is from the slope where you ascend to the next area, you can mount the railings then mantle up the roof. (There's a talking plaque on the roof - and another on top of the abandoned church.) Once on the top of the roof you will see a large square chimney stack with a thin strip of wood along one edge. Put a rope arrow into the far end of that strip and then try to slide down onto the rope - it may take a few tries. You can then descend safely into a narrow passage that AFAIK is not accessible from ground level. The tomb of Brother Jeff is in there. Be careful, it is guarded with mines. Also the red skull appears to do nothing in that place. But you will acquire enough mines and fire arrows to deal with all the zombies in the mission. To leave, you will need to put a second rope arrow into the wooden panel on the side of the house in order to jump to your first rope arrow. I'm finding this impossible due to how
steep the slope is. Also can't see the strip of wood on the chimney stack. I'm at the railings, looking towards the room the mission starts in.What am I doing wrong?

Not much. AFAIK, you can climb up the roof only by pressing and then holding the "mantle" key, and the chimney stack Marbrien is talking of can only be seen from on top of the roof. The large chimney you can see from where you are now (behind the inn) is another one. It is located on the eastern side of the inn, while the one you're looking for is on the northwest side of the inn.
Climb onto the railing that is overlooking the waterfall and lake. Climb or walk onto the little pillar or stone part of the railing that is closest to the inn. Mantle onto the roof, and once Garrett starts to climb, hold the mantle key until he reaches the top, at which point you have to immediately release the mantle key. Otherwise, Garrett will continue to climb and then slide down the roof on the other side again.
Once you stand on the top of the roof, walk towards the electrified tower-like structure there. You can now see the chimney stack in the northwest corner of this area, and you can also see a glimpse of the "talking plaque" on the northern point of the roof top in the north. On the southern side of the chimney stack, there is a wooden rim in the chimney, and that is where the access point to that tomb is. I, however, usually fell down and created a shallow grave for a pancake Garrett, and was too lazy to do this again.;) So I cheated a bit, and yes, the tomb is down there. How you get up after dealing with the tomb I don't know, by the way.

Got it, thank you!
I wasn't holding down the mantle key for some reason. I'm sure I used to do this and know about it, but for some reason it totally escaped me while trying to climb up there.
Now the next question - Is it possible to get the items from Brother Jeff's tomb without triggering the mines?
baeuchlein on 16/11/2023 at 16:09
The only way I found is to trigger the mines while you're safe from their explosions. Go behind the last corner before the mine trap, then lean sideways so that your (or rather Garrett's) head sticks out while the rest of his body is hidden behind the wall. While leaning, use some arrow to shoot at a mine, and release the "lean sideways" key immediately after you released the arrow. I was able to trigger the explosion, but get away unharmed. Inside the tomb, there are more mines which will not detonate, so you can at least pick up those.

I really, really love your missions, nicked! I just replayed this and enjoyed it to the fullest again.
The only thing I think is a bit sad is that the last pebble is so damn hard to find. Would have been cool if the pebbles search and the super secret with the skull would have been separated, because looking for the pebbles is so much fun and then missing one is so frustrating. And honestly, even with fortunis lootlist I had a very hard time finding it, because that archway is so well hidden and the skull doesn´t even give a sound when placed right:tsktsk:
And seriously, that BFG10000 would have been so useful against the zombies in the mines :laff:

i am replaying mission now, but i need some help where do i put red skull? do i have to lob it into the long thin chimney on first roof? i been to talking plaque
Samantha1 on 30/12/2023 at 20:49
Downwinder, you need to put the red skull on the little altar in the museum of the mansion. There´s a little altar with a skull symbol there. After you place it there, you don´t get a sound or anything that the skull is on the right place. After you placed the skull on that little altar, go to the ruins and take a good look around in the lower level of the house with the big tree.
