I started playing Thief gold, i install orgy textures,i´ve optmized the installation with darkloader everything runs fine videos etc, but i noticed that when i complete an objective it doesnt make that distinctive sound and does not show the msg on the screen only is checked on the objectives screen. Is this normal?

If I remember correctly, Thief the Dark Project (and hence Gold, which I do not have) does not play a sound or notify you of the completion of an objective. The sound was a new thing brought about in Thief 2.

same thing that i've got sometime ago...
check your media player settings & codecs (if you installed any)
if windows media player 10 installed; just open it once and then play the game..

It does play the sounds, but the problme is it doesnt even shows the messenge on screen :erg:

I've been wondering about this, too. Just now I can't recall correctly if it does play a sound and "Objective Completed" or not. I thought in Thief 1 and 2 it always did that. I think in Thief Gold it's sporadic, or am I crazy? Thief Gold seems to have some bugs. No sounds in the menus occasionally, Dark Engine giving me hell sometimes--for example, I'll walk off of a step and DIE. Wtf? I don't remember that happening to me in Thief 1.

This is the first time im playing gold but i finished the original Thief and i remenber that used to play the sounds and showed the msgs on screen whe you completed a goal and in fact you are right sometimes in gold the sounds of the menus dissapear sometimes. Anyone knows how to fix these bugs?

Yea, turn off Hardware Acceleration under the Audio settings.

So can anyone one answer if gold does show the objective complete msg and sound or it is only in TDP?
