I've recently built a new winXP system and installed Thief Gold using the setup.exe -lgntforce option.
Here is my system info:
Windows XP Home Edition with service pack 1 and all updates.
- Abit KN8 Ultra Nforce4 with all drivers up to date.
- AMD Athlon 64 3700+
- MSI NX6800GS 256meg PCI-E 16
- 1 Gig Corsair XMS matched memory
- Nvidia Geforce drivers verson 81.98
- Onboard Nforce4 audio, drivers up to date.
- I'm not running any antivirus software or antispyware software.
The problem:
The game starts ok, the movie before the first mission runs fine.
However when I click either OPTIONS or PLAY MISSION, the game simply crashes to the desktop, no error messages or anything.
I've rebooted my computer after this and the game does the same thing, crashes to the desktop with no errors. No matter how I get the game installed this always happens.
Anyone have the same system and a fix?

I guess I'll simply have to build a dual boot system with DOS and windows 95 or 98 on it to play all non-winXP games. Seems like the only solution for some of these games.

Strange. I have no problem with Gold on vaguely similar configuration, drivers and XP64.
