I just bought the Premiere Collection version of Thief Gold from eBay, where the seller told me that it was the original version of the game released in the UK. Is this right? I have the original UK versions of TDP and TMA and neither of those are Premiere Collection. Was there a standard, non-Premiere Collection edition of Thief Gold released before my edition in the UK?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure the Premiere Collection was only released in the last few years, but someone who was around back in 99 will have to confirm that your seller was wrong. I didn't get TG myself until 2003.

Yet another instance of misinformation in the marketing of Thief Gold, although this is on ebay.
Forge of Michael, is it, in fact, Thief GOLD? Extra missions, blooper reel, and DromEd?
Forge Of Michael on 7/2/2008 at 20:23
Yes. Definitely Thief Gold. It advertises the three extra missions on the back.

Whew!:p

Eh? Whaddya mean "whew!"? Is it the original UK version?

No no! You're fine. My concern is off-topic, actually. It's come up that some software sites are selling TDP as Gold, or calling it Gold, but the description says otherwise, or it is Gold, but they've used a TDP description.:o Since you went through ebay, it's different, but there's still the risk of misinformation.

So it is the original UK version? I've looked around and it does appear that the first version of Thief Gold released in the UK was the Premiere Collection edition. It says it was published in 1999 on the back.
Cheers

Yes, the Premiere version is the original (and only AFAIK) UK release of Thief Gold. Premiere was the Eidos mid-price label and as TG was a mid price release that was the label it was released under.

The one i've got's the premier collection one - though i got it off of ebay also. But yer, from what I remember, when eidos released budget games at that time, that's what they were called, just premier collection ones. So yer it should be premier collection else it either isn't uk or is a dodgy version :erm: Good luck anyway :)
