I just imagined the words in russian localization (there also are similar words sounding like [lokh] and [lokhudra] in russian) , but they have a bit different meaning, more like dumb/naive/absurd person. You even can't imagine how funny (and wrong) they sound in Russian if used in relation to thief characters, [lokher] as well :laff: :laff:

Its odd (sorry I studied language for quite a while) how 'taffer' to us is a neologism expressing a mischievous, troublesome individual like Garret, yet in other languages they don't make their own word up for it, or even use 'taffer', but use its translation. Loses its beauty a little. :(

That is the good thing about fanmade translations, I guess. They are sure to be done with love. There is no official German taffer as well. Few times I tried to come up with one but was never happy with them, so I stick to the original or just don't use it.
We do have (http://www.prosieben.de/imperia/md/images/images/04_lifestyle_magazine/taff/desktops/neu_maerz_05/taff_desktop1_1280_1024.jpg) this, however. Also, there is that sleeping guard who occasionaly mutters "taffer" in his sleep. The snoring hasn't been translated, so the word made it into the German version anyway. :D

Well, that is quite similar in the German version, in addition to what Vogelfrei said. There is also no real equivalent of the Pagan dialect (it's done via diminutive) and the Hammer's antique accent sounds not so special since were are used to this way of speaking from historical movies etc..

The German voice actors, however, did a great job and I cannot really complain about the rest of the translations. In T1 there were even German names for places like Stonemarket which remain untranslated in TDS. By the way, at the moment we are checking if/how/for what money it's possible to replace the English sound files in those csc-archives. I already questioned John P and New Horizon about that and I'm preparing a little experiment now. But if someone accidentally has a little tool by his hand... It would definitely be crazy to do this huge amount of work (thousands of files I guess), but just in case.

PS: Dark Dialect won't work in any other language but German, I fear. It's about what we call dialects and you call accents, and overall a little stupid persiflage.
