I take it you mean 3D object viewer? Anyone know where I can find more technical info regarding formats before I go scraping the bottom out of Google?

Just build in an option to automatically launch the LGS object viewer. It's driven by command-line parameters, so it should be pretty easy.
As far as other features, I'm sure authors would appreciate some palette-auditing functions. For example:
* Automatically warn if any textures in a family aren't using the family palette.
* Scan the object folder and report how many unique palettes exist.
That sort of thing.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I propose to get it to a stable state, release a version so you get the feel for it, then tinker with object browser functionality.
I've set up a website for the project (

Something I did recently with (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125417) GarrettLoader (beta 1.4194) is a similar thing although more focused on FM Zip resources (under TOOLS > FAN MISSION DEVELOPMENT TOOLS > RESOURCE MANAGER). It was designed to make it easy for you to rip out skins, textures and graphics from FM zip files.

It basically made a database of all files found under certain categories (which you could also tweak), meaning when you make an FM you can easily grab skins and textures from other FMs. It needs some more work as it only lets you view stuff at the moment.
What I was also developing was a 3D object viewer part to the tool as well (in Visual Basic)

Although this is in early stages, but I managed to get it to take out bin files from the thief FMs, convert to 3Ds using Nameless Voice's tools and display in wireframe format. I was also working on a Direct X version of it so that you can see the skins as well although that is really buggy at the moment.
Ulukai, if you want to look at having your program as a plugin / tool in GL as well drop me a PM and I'll add some code in to hook it in, and may be able to provide something that will give you details of FMs in GLs database that you may also be able to use.
