I don't see how parkour abilities would eliminate the need for stealth. Would you care to elaborate?
They aren't going to help you a whole lot in enclosed areas like hallways.
I also think that a master thief having limited mobility doesn't make a lot of sense from a realistic perspective. Cunning is certainly his best trait, but I think LGS did intend for Garrett to be able to do things that average people can't. (He definitely climbs ladders faster than I can).
Again, not saying that he should become Ezio or anything like it, but improving Garrett's athletic ability a bit could enrich the level design without changing Thief's style of gameplay.
In any case, the suggestions SE provided above are much more similar to what I'd want to see in a Thief game. I don't want to see automated jumping or the ability to cling to flat surfaces like in AC.
The kind of parkour abilities I'm talking about are AC style moves, like scrambling up tall buildings in a matter of seconds and that thing where you run/swing across the poles. In an outside setting like Ambush, Garrett would barely need to sneak past anyone if he had AC abilities, he could simply flit across the buildings in no time at all.
I'm not saying he shouldn't have any acrobatic ability; as I mentioned in my previous post, it would be awsome to be able to hang on to ledges and see improved mantling. Just as long as he can still be caught :P

Wait, people found Assassin's creed PLAYABLE?
I tried it, de-installed it after about an hour of not even being able to "walk through the crowd" during the opening tutorial. Such a steaming pile of manure I wondered what sort of crack the publisher was given to even make a second one.
One of the least controllable unplayable games I've ever encountered... or is that because I was trying to use keyboard and mouse and it's meant for console (sexual preference slur omitted).
Though that one screenshot we have ALONE has me expecting Thiaf to be exactly that type of unplayable annoying bull... Man, do I have low expectations for this one.

I found Assassins Creed playable. In fact I found it rather enjoyable. But then again I played the Xbox version, which I imagine is more easily controlled than on the PC

He only played it for an hour so his opinion counts about as much as a guy who has watched 10minutes of a film before delaying it rubbish does. Not at all.

Honestly the thing I'm looking forward to is more rooftop climbing, and running across rooftops with a clear view of the moon and other Thief theme shaped buildings in the distance. I get goosebumps just thinking about it. :sly:

More Thieves' Highway is welcome, and the moon, as long as it's never silvery when seen through The City's air.

I was actually positively surprised how well Assassin's Creed plays with mouse and keyboard. Overall I find myself liking the whole control system: buttons associated with different body parts and the simple way to increase options with high/low profile toggle.
But of course, this is not AC forum but a Thief forum, so to stay on subject... I wouldn't mind if Garrett took some lessons about scaling walls from Altaïr and Ezio, just make it a bit more slower business. Automatic jumping, as much as I love it in AC games, should probably stay away. And counterattacks should
definately not be in Thief. I think Thief games should have a higher "danger element" compared to Assassin's Creed series.

Couldn't agree more

As Judith said, AC basically removed all skill from what is in reality an incredibly difficult and dangerous art.
they could just make it so that your jumps require precise or close to precise timing.

...but wall-runs are unnecessary.
and totally unrealistic.
