Face it, we're practically peeing in our pants out of enthusiasm for the coming of Thief IV. We've discussed what we want (and do not want) to see included in it. At great length. However, behind every good Thief game, there is a damn good storyline that the entire game is built around. So now, let's talk about it, eh? I just know each and every one of us has his or her own ideas for plot of the next Thief game.
I've got my own ideas about the plot, I can tell you that. (Particularly involving the the girl character (I call her "Charlotte" for some reason) that Garret meets at the end of TDS). But everyone needs a chance to say their ideas. Let's do this.
Oh, and one more thing:
If you think that Thief IV will never be released, or worse, if you think Eidos-Montreal will screw it up bigtime, or even if you think that the entire series is cursed (every company that worked on it went out of business) so that it will never be worked on again, do not worry. We have eachother. We did churn out T2X didn't we? We managed to produce countless FM's haven't we? Even if Thief IV is never officially released, we can always make it ourselves...for us, by us. We've got a lot of talented people in this community.

Benny wakes up either/and next to an empty flagon of mead/with a terrible bump on his head. It was all [T3 that is] a terrible, stupefied dream.
The story in Deadly Shadows was a travesty that reduced The Keepers, Thief Lore and our favorite protagonist to the immaterial and ridiculous; I don't envy anyone trying to follow it. I hope they don't. Garret at his best was nothing but a purely self interested thief and entirely fallible. Turning him into SUPER KEEPER effectively killed off the character. I have no interest in Thief 4 unless it denies completely the existence of Deadly Shadows.

Oh, and ideas for Thief 4 have been discussed heavily, starting here:

There are a hundred ideas throughout that thread. In general, they discuss the girl, Garrett, Keepers, future, far future, and the past; new technologies, a return to the simpler origins, commercialisation, niche marketing...
I recommend skimming through, passing over the reactionary crap from all parties, and to the fun creative stuff.:thumb:

I absolutely agree with you, jay pettitt.
The best thing would be to have a brend new (unknown) thief as main character for Thief4 , possibly starting a new parallel storyline which shares only setting and general background with older Thief games.

ITT jay pettitt knows how Thief's story should unfold better than Terri Brosius.
Also, he's never heard of character development.

What do you think the chances are that I've never heard of 'character development'?

He's being sarcastic, because you speak as if you didn't realize that maybe, just maybe, authors had not intended Garrett to be the protagonist anymore. The story has made a very elegant circle, and while the psychological credibility of Keepers in TDS didn't quite meet my expectations, I think there could be no better ending to Garrett's own storyline. And if that means no more games about Garrett, well boo hoo.

Might be a different author now, so maybe Garrett gets another shot.
