I'm just curious: Do you think a Thief IV will ever be made?

Fat chance in hell.
Of course, we said that after LGS went under. Then along came Warren, ISA, and Thief 3.
It did sound interesting from what little Krypt (dev on Thief 3) has given us so far. I like the notion of a very similar story in a more contemporary steampunk setting. I was actually wanting to ask him for any more specifics (Thief IV was in very preliminary planning stages before ISA died). Would the events mirror those of the entire three games, only Thief 1, or only Thief 3, perhaps?
Thief certainly doesn't have a good track record; some might even say it isn't marketable (I'd disagree), but it's damn unlikely unless there's yet another ex-LGS or ISA taffer out there, running their own company now, planning to make a pitch to Eidos...
We've already beaten this into the ground though, haven't we? Half of us say "No, Thief 3 was horrible enough, let it be!" and the other half are cynical about our chances.

I think Thief is probably more marketable than a lot of games.... they just didn't market it very well.

I'm just holding out hope that there will eventually be another one. I've heard, although not seen for myself, that the ending to Thief III is weak. If it's a cliffhanger, maybe they're thinking of making another one anyway.

Best to use the search function. You'll find that a lot of this has been discussed to death. The company that made Thief 1 and 2 is dead. The company that made Thief 3, is dead. Unless another company steps up to purchase the rights, there will be no Thief 4.

Fans could make 'Thief 4' like Thief 2X... Me and my friend thought about it long time ago, but we are not THAT good with T3Ed...
We managed to make a LONG storyline for Thief 4 but we never tried to make it in T3Ed (wonder if it was because T3Ed wasn't published when at the time we made it  )

It's probably better that way. You don't want it to turn into something Tomb Raider-like, do you? Thief is something like avantgarde. The first two games, for sure.
Kovitlac: Actually I think the T3 ending cutscene a quite a decent conclusion of the series. I'd really like to know how to better conclude this franchise. It's certainly better than the flat ending of TMA that makes you "Wuht??? That's all?". TDP final cutscene might be best, because it was meant to work as a conclusion of a stand-alone game.
And I think Terri Brosius didn't leave much open space for a sequel to begin with.
So no Thief 4. Again,
it's probably better that way.

It's about time, all the other ones have disappeared off the front page.
