I'm not sure if it is because I live in the heart of the USA or not, but for as many years as I can remember there hasn't been one time that any number of versions of the damn game hasn't littered the local computer store shelves.
I live in Canada and it's the same thing. Over the years, I've seen -
Half-Life
Half-Life: Opposing Force
Half-Life: Blue Shift
Half-Life Collection
Half-Life Platinum Edition
Half-Life Ultimate Edition
Half-Life Same As the Last 3 Edition
Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2 Box Set
Half-Life 2 DVD Edition
Half-Life 2 Anthology Edition
Half-Life Everything Collection
Half-Life: Half-Life Edition
So yeah. A little much.
Anyways Dia, even though Half-Life is nothing like Thief, I'd still recommend it. HL and HL2 still rank as two of the best FPSs ever made, a ton of fun to be had.

No offense intended, Dia, but Half Life was a pretty popular thing when it came out and has almost dominated the FPS scene for many a year now.
You *would* almost have to be under a rock to have missed it.
You know, some people here actually
have life. :cheeky:

Posters like this make the Thief community look like complete "fucktards". Oh, what poor taste in insults they have!
"The mentality around here has been depreciating to the level of pre-schooler observational abilities lately."
I take it you are talking about ZylonBane and the poster above who is still on my ignore list from about two years ago.
Honk.
I'm sorry, it was the only way I could think of contributing less to this thread than ToolFan.
I realise I am a hypocrite in saying this, but honestly, you've got to learn to just take it sometimes.

Those that insult are insecure in themselves. It's the only way they can communicate with people who are better than them, by trying to bring me down to their own pathetic level.
I PMed those to keep the insulting out of the forum, but of course they didn't reply, as they can't show off to an audience of like minded posters when they shout "LOL, fucktard!!".
Yametha on 4/3/2006 at 22:16
err, you were saying something about people who insult others... people who are better than them... pathetic level... an audience of like minded posters... if what you say is true, then it looks like whoever with was has succeeded admirably!

Funny you should mention that. I was a Lead Artist with them for a couple of years and through retail development. (However, I no longer work for Tripwire) I have always though to make an extention to thief. To extend the life of this wonderfull series, perhaps with a new story perhaps with a spin off, but to me it always felt like a shame to abandon the character and especialy the wonderfull world that thief creators were able to build. Now being an artist I'm not much of a writer so storlyline was always the stumbling block, but who knows, if someone pitches a great story that would make justice to Thief series I might take it on and see it produced into a relatively small expansion, a couple of new missons....

I hope your not just teasing us, shadow:eek:
I have 0 artistic ability (including but not limited to drawing, building, level design, writing, singing, dancing, etc.) BUT, I would love nothing more than for fans to continue breathing life into the Thief universe. T2X was an offshoot and it turned out OK.
I am not a writer by any means, but I have a very minimal view of how I'd like to see T4 go. I think Ive briefly mentioned it earlier. Here goes again:
Garrett is now keeper Garrett and he has taken himself off the streets and into shadow. In other words, hes not thieving anymore, but he occassionaly takes on more acheological affairs to keep the balance as he sees it. he offers things for sale in a very little known shop (artifacts of lesser importance that he has legitamately acquireed, and weapons that he has become excellent at crafting). The young one he caught at the end of T3 is his new apprentice and the character you would be controlling. you would acquire supplies from keeper garrett as well as training and mission briefings, etc. Garrett would be more interested in balance now that after 3 near catastrophic episodes he sees how the keepers have helped, how things almost ended up, and most importantly how he fulfilled the prophecies. So thieving is not something he encourages however, with his past, he doesnt outright forbid it either. The tasks he sends you on would be for balance. An example is a new scripture that the hammers are rumored to present to the masses. It is alleged that the scripture might rally the troops and gain great support from local towns thereby shifting the balance in favor of the hammers over the pagans. Garrett is worried that without the pagans existance the hammers would face the potential of repeating history as another branch of the mechanists or worse. so your job is sneak into a sect of town (sort of like military housing, but for hammers) where if your not a hammer, you are a trespasser. You must find the scripture and any notes about it, destroy it, and get back out. Throughout your missions, Garrett becomes more impressed by your abilities, but also begins to fear that your meeting him may not have been by chance. It is becoming unclear, as missions progress, whether the prophecies were talking about Garrett, or the new apprentice he has taken under his wing. This would come out after an early mission to track down a much talked about but never seen interpreter to help with newer glyphs. And there would have to be a cutscene where the apprentice needs some help and Garrett jumps in from no where and performs some amazing Thiefy moves to help the situation (kind of like yoda fighting in episode 2 :))
Sorry I went on and on, but I see lots of potential for keeping things going in this universe, I just hope artists like yourself see the need too.
