Dear players of thief,
I was wondering wether you people know about any movies that come
close to thief, or even to the thief atmosphere. I can find numerous
topics of so called thief movies being created, but none of this kind.
Of the many movies I watched, probably the closest one to thief is
for me 'interview with the vampire'. While it is still not quite what I
would like to see. I think this one comes close, because it's very dark
and has some kind of creepy feeling about it.
I hope you can tell me some more,
please with some story behind it.

James Cameron's Titanic reminds me a lot of the Thief II stuff, atmospherically.

Yes, cruise ships, icebergs, making out in cars, implanted memories, spaceships, and aliens are all very Thief-like. :rolleyes: Freaks.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112682/) City of The Lost Children, One of the best films I have ever seen. Clever use of steampunk, as well as unique and intriguing characters, not to mention the brilliant visuals all make this film one of my favorites.
Good luck tracking down a copy though :erg:
Also try Vidocq, I hear that's very steampunkish.

Dark city is very thief-like about the visual atmopshere, the graphics, that's the movie that reminds me the most the Thief cutscenes... Furthermore, it's a little steampunk, but did I ever write Dark city has a similar story than Thief ? There aren't even thieves ! :weird:

It's not any steampunk at all. Steampunk denotes a world with lots of steam-powered technology. It's not even metaphorical steampunk, if you're thinking of the juxtaposition of 50s tech with advanced alien tech, because it was an intentional, artificial disparity.

Something about the camera angles, colours, and machinery in Dark City is very "Thief cutscene" like. More than just the sum of those things - nothing else I've seen looks so much like the Thief cutscenes.
