James Cameron's Titanic reminds me a lot of the Thief II stuff, atmospherically.

Yes, cruise ships, icebergs, are all very Thief-like. Freaks.
This was more of a jab at Thief II than anything, my humble little friend.

Michael Mann's THIEF, but in name only, and the fact that it's about, well, a thief. Otherwise it's nothing like our Thief. Still an awesome movie.

I personally see absolutely no likeness in James Cameron's Titanic, except the more scenes are set in a night time in both!
I instead beleve Umberto Eco's 'The name of the rose' is incredibly evocative of thief: I suggest it!

Thanks for the tip!
Watched it this week, it's wonderfull. :)
Best Jean-Pierre Jeunet movie I've seen yet. Yes, that's right, better than Amelie AND Alien 4. COMBINED! Haven't seen any of his other movies tho. I heard "Delicatessen" is good.

Somebody beat me to City of Lost Children. Great film. The french get these awesome children's movies while all we Americans are left with is crap that parents have to yawn and pretend to enjoy while their kids are laughing at some of the worst humor ever. I have come to learn that the genre "Family" does not mean every family member will enjoy it. It is where the over-protective parents can sit and be happy that their children aren't going to grow up as drugged up murderers. :grr: :tsktsk: :nono: :eww:
...I really should lay off the caffeine.

It's a dark film set in Victorian London.
I'm not vouching for the movie's overall quality, but several settings in it look like they could be filmed versions of Thief missions.
I recall getting distracted from the plot because some of the settings were so atmospheric and richly Thief-like I began to care more about inspecting the visual details than following the dialogue.

Ditto. From the offset, you think you're watching Thief: The Movie.
