nah, i've used clips from films as part of an A/V class i took years ago.
for a while i had, half-finished, a MV featuring strapping young lad's
oh my fucking god (specifically, the live version from no sleep 'til bedtime) and footage from night of the living dead- with different sequences in time with the music, of course.

God, I cant believe anyone would want to associate Thief with some shitty normal music, its just beyond me. Do you really want some song reminding you of thief, or vice versa?
The answer of course is no. What kind of music then would you use for a thief video? THIEF MUSIC
That means that not only will it not suck as bad, but it will be nostalgic for people who have played the game, compile cool parts of cutscenes or scenery and place it to thief music, that makes for a cool video.
I cant believe anyone would even make those first two atrocities.
Its like when system shocker made a SS2 movie and put it to pod.

You have a point, but define 'Thief music' please. If you mean songs that actually have lyrics relatable to the Thief storyline.... Well, I'd say lyrics aren't always that important. For me, it's all about the mood, and I actually avoid trying to understand the lyrics or looking them up. As long as the lyrics do not distinctly mention dancing cows or pumpkins or anything else completely non-Thief, it's okay with me - assuming the mood is right.

I've always thought that myself. The Rasmus are one of my favourite bands, and "In the Shadows" is a fantastic song, would go great with a Thief video. Quite a few of their songs actually remind me of thief when I listen to them, because of the mood they put out.
