You have a point, but define 'Thief music' please. If you mean songs that actually have lyrics relatable to the Thief storyline.... Well, I'd say lyrics aren't always that important. For me, it's all about the mood, and I actually avoid trying to understand the lyrics or looking them up. As long as the lyrics do not distinctly mention dancing cows or pumpkins or anything else completely non-Thief, it's okay with me - assuming the mood is right.
When I say 'thief music', I really MEAN 'thief music'. I mean music from thief, music that plays in thief. Its the only thing that cannot possibly be lame. Anything else, someone might have heard already etc, anything else was made as part of somthing else, BUT THIEF. Maybe if you MADE some music specifically for that, but its generally someone putting some lame song they like to thief, only because they like it, it wont mean the same thing to everyone else, just them because they already have a connection to that song, just because you think a song is cool doesnt mean it wont seem totally stupid to everyone else, and vice versa.
Oh god, thats exactly what I mean. I liked the visuals but that song is terrible, and if I dont already like it, the video is horribly ruined. Nobody EVER tries to find a song they dont already like, just for the movie. If you wanted to use a song for a movie, the only way to be sure other people would have a chance to actually feel the same way about it would be to find somthing new you've not heard before, so that you can get a feel for it like most people who watch your movie, there are tons of songs I like that would probably not bother me, because I like them, but to people without the same emotional response to them, its going to be totally diffrent. What you end up with is: SS2 to P.O.D, and that is spit in the face of god.

But the only music ' from Thief ' is ambient music which, if put into a music video, will drag on. The ambient music ROCKS ingame, but in a music video...:bored:

Well, Mr Bear, do you also tear Thief FMs (which are not having that particular mood) to pieces? I guess FMs as well as music videos or any artwork are an attempt to catch some atmosphere we (no, not "we" but "you all") would call "thievy". And everyone has a different feeling for this atmosphere, so all of your comments refer primarily to you. All I would say is that something is not my taste...but not that it's horrible or whatever. Our beloved world (no City...:erg: ) is far too complex for us judging which moods could not occur in it.

Hey, who had the nerv to take the song by DonCut and JayB from my Website (it was (
http://www.darktales.gamers.de/00000095a9128f216/00000096c11478501/index.html) published there
only) and put it into his video without asking them before...?! Is writing an email such hard work? He doesn't even mention them. I'm not amused.
@ BEAR: Thank you for making us all learn to make the important difference between good taste and bad taste. Where would this world be without people like you dictating us what's good music and what's not.
I really appreciate you teaching us the right way to think, taste, smell, see, feel and hear in every area of our lives. And btw slating someone's work makes you so much more interesting and distinguished.
You surely are an extraordinally talented musician who can write and perform such a song half-asleep, you just never wanted to, that's why we never heard one made by you. :sly:

I quite like the Chosen One, does anyone know who the artist of the songs is?
The artist is called A2 and the song is taken from the album of the "Shadow the Hedgehog"-game by Sony ((
http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Found-Shadow-Hedgehog-Tracks/dp/B000CQM0UU/sr=1-1/qid=1163443937/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/103-5609866-5183863?ie=UTF8&s=music) Lost & Found: Shadow the Hedgehog Vocal Tracks).
I like it a lot and had to look for it for quite a while. Unfortunately, Sony holds the rights of the song - and if you own a PS2, you'll know the Sony-made prices.

I get so sick of this argument that "if you can't do better, don't criticise those who do". They are the performing arts! If you put your work out into the public domain, and you put your name to it, you'd better be prepared to have people criticise it. If you don't want people to have a go at your work, don't put it out there. The same goes for FM's.
And although I also think that song was shite, I think BEAR's point seemed to be more along the lines of the song being incongruous with the general atmosphere and aura of Thief. He was saying you should choose songs that fit the clip, not just songs that you like. It is actually a suprisingly difficult thing to do sometimes.

What is all this about ' violation ' and ' terms of use ' ??
This thread was created to comment on peoples Thief MV's, even if they arn't Thiefy and the music is crap, tell them that! Dont just say ' Oh thats illegal ' or ' Thats copyrighted ', if its illegal or copyrighted or a song or a certain clip belongs to your website, why put it on and why not secure it so people cant download it or something.

I'm so sorry you got sick. Hope you find a doctor. But I'm afraid I have to tell you it wasn't an
argument. It was just a little impertinence.

Surely he does. His expression is quite differentiated. I get your point.
We both apparently have different views of "critics" and just slating something.

That's some grown-up-jabbering, don't notice it. Just go on playing and downloading.

Well, now it's getting commercial. Capitalistic. Whatever. :erg:
