Allegedly garrett's mechanical eye was given to him by Karras, but I can't find any in-game evidence to support that. Can someone give me a reference?

"I know thou art not a believer, Garrett. Yet thou art well aware that half of all thou seest is through Mechanist machinery. Thy metal eye. I gave the eye to thee in the hopes that thou wouldst be an ally, but 'twas not to be. You have eluded me in the past, Garrett, but no one -- not even thee -- will escape this night."

Hm. Was that on one of those recordings left for garrett? I always have trouble understanding them.

Naw. It's Karras talking to Garrett in Soulforge.

Where does the name Alarus come from in the first place?
jtr7 on 14/7/2009 at 07:48
Apparently it means nothing. It's a popular word that people keep making up, or no one is saying where they got it from.
It's a real surname.
It's an anagram of "Laura's"... Laura Baldwin, heh heh.
An aircraft company, a book publisher, agencies...
A Gaelic word meaning "mourning". Nice coincidence if it wasn't intended.
Any early games or other works connected to LGS/LGT/Blue Sky, Doug Church, Richard Garriott, et al?

I'm pretty sure (that is, I'm only guessing, but it makes the most sense that way) that the talismans sealed off the whole cathedral - all entrances and exits.
As dumb as the Keepers sometimes appear, going through the whole trouble off creating /getting the talismans and setting up that magic lock and then only locking one of many doors... that would be a whole new level of moronic.
As mentioned by another poster before me, the talismans apparently are only intended to keep everyone locked out - since the Eye wasn't bothered by being locked up by the Hammerites and still returned to hovering above the altar every day.
That is, unless there is a difference between a mundane lock (as probably used by the Hammers) and the magical/special talisman lock built by the Keepers.
Also, the Eye seemed very content to just hang around in the Cathedral. Seeing, how it tested Garrett's abilities, either it was plain evil and didn'>t want to leave at all or its purpuse was to wait for the One to come and release it.

It kept The Eye in, so obviously it affected the whole cathedral.
M7EVIL: "Warning: Great evil resides in this place, and it is no
longer fit for men. The doors are sealed, to protect us from that
which lies within. Do not remain here."

I read that warning as
since we have locked the place up, noone can enter and do something stupid (as in take the Eye or let the Haunts out). Thus, we are protected (as in, the menace is contained).
