Sorry for the long delay, things have been pretty hectic at my house, especially since I'm assembling a new PC. I promise to get more done by the end of this weekend.

Well I was beginning to wonder. Thank you for the update. I've been really looking forward to the next instalment.

I figured it had to do with the hardware questions you've been asking in the technical fora. It's your game, so....:thumb: But yeah, thanks for the update.

Do it, and play it for your benefit, not ours. Get back to it when you can. Still fun to read. :-)

I only have TG. Have things really changed much to warrant seeking out TDP and replaying? I never played the original. Is there a concise list of changes between the two?
I don't know that I'd go to the extent of purchasing DP. I LOVED the extra TG missions, but I thought the addition of Mages to the Lost City absolutely destroyed the atmosphere of the original. It was such an ancient, isolated place - just Garrett, the Burricks, and the Fire Elementals - only to get into the depths of it and find some Mages wandering around like boy scouts at a campout. BLEH! I forget they're there every time I replay TG and physically cringe when I come upon them.
In a strange way, most of the charm of TDP was it's shortcomings - like being able to cheat RTC with a skull in the door, climbing out of the maps in several places, and Bafford hiding the whole sky under the roof of his secret tunnel to the throne room. Some of the changes were definitely for the better, but some of them were tantamount to Greedo shooting first.

Right, so I started Mage Towers. Since I have plenty of cash, I buy a couple fire arrows, some more water arrows, a mine, and other assorted bits and bobs that might come in handy.
Okay. Front door is never the right choice. I'm going in one of these side doors.
In the left, I see a guard walk past. I smack him in the head and drag his body into the shadows. This place is perfect- dark and grassy, I can't be heard nor seen. Another guard follows suit, and then a bowman who comes out a door. I investigate a small tower-like structure, and see one of the elemental symbols on the wall next to the door- of the three keys I've picked up, none will open the door. Oh well, I'll just take the one the archer came through.
More to come as this story develops.

Okay. There's a door, and a ramp going up. A cursory inspection of the ramp shows that there are a sequence of ramps leading up into the towers. I'll look around outside more first, and blackjack the other guards.
Well look at this- on this tower, the door can be opened. Into the breach.
Now why the hell is this place flooded? Meh, must be water mages unable to control themselves. Up the stairway.
There's a door. And behind it...
A solid wall of water.
What the hell?
Oh, look, an Earth Key.
Zing! Out I go, back to the ramp.
Up the ramp, I come to a door. I hear someone talking on the other side, so I douse the torch.
Wow, a room full of guards. This could be a problem.
I'll continue later tonight.

Only one thing to do.
And a noise arrow sails down the hall, the guards go to investigate, I blackjack the one just to the left of the door, and go through. Hey, the library! After some sneaking and clubbing, I've taken down all the guards in the library. There's a shrine, and it's talking to me.
Greed will be my undoing. Let's see, what have I done that's greedy...?
Oh, fuck. I'm not getting paid. Now isn't the best time to dwell on this. I'm surprised I haven't found the spectacles, although they could be elsewhere. So, head on up-
Aha. That wall looks very strange... and true to cliche, pulling the book opens the door.
What I'd like to see is a game where you open the wall, and a book tilts, dropping the item on the floor. Oh well.
Sneaky sneaky bashy bashy. All the guards on the level are down, time to head upstairs and pay the mages a visit.
After a few minutes of sneaking, clubbing, watching guards bolt upright in bed because I came within five feet of them and then making them trip over mines, I realize that there's little else to do until I investigate the other three towers. Guess that's my next quest.

Well, I got through the other towers, although I was rather violent in the execution of retrieving the keys. The towers seem to be designed specifically so that I can't sneak. The Air tower is too light, the Earth tower is too open, and the Fire tower has metal floors. Still, I managed to grab the treasure key, and make it to the treasure room.
Turn away from the hand with the sword... Hmm, there's no hand in this room- Ah, perhaps it means my right hand, so I'll count left seven. Okay, ignore the one just a little to the right of where I start, and count seven. Here we are.
Smack!
Okay, it's the next one- I guess I was supposed to count that first one. Oh well.
When I left, Garrett started to speak, and said two or three words before getting cut off and going to the 'Mission Accomplished' video. What does he say?
