Turn away from the hand with the sword... Hmm, there's no hand in this room[...]
Actually there is. And it's a sneaky confusing addition to the riddle. The Bas-relief on the wall has a man with a sword. As a result, the player often thinks it is the "Old Man" with the sword that is the "hand" you need to turn away from.
Caught me, and many others that way. :)

Ah, I must have run around that room ten times before realizing that its referring to my hand, rather than a statue. Must be the low-resolution textures, I didn't notice anything.

It is also possible to find out which talisman is the real one by watching the patrol route of the mages: they stop at the real talisman for a few seconds. That is, of course, unless you blackjack them before having a chance to patrol :)

When I left, Garrett started to speak, and said two or three words before getting cut off and going to the 'Mission Accomplished' video. What does he say?
I think you possibly might be referring to
gar10100: “Hmmm…This looks like the way out. That’ll come in useful later.”
...or is it? I had to puzzle it together by googling, as I'm removed from the files ATM.

Thanks, I started Lost City, and hope to continue soon- everything arrived for my new computer (except the wireless card) so I spent a few hours putting it together, without help, as a learning experience. I haven't connected the hard drive or DVD drive yet, but it POSTed fine, has lots of pretty blue lights, and is sitting at 40C idle. I hope that temperature will decrease as the thermal paste gets 'broken in', once I can lower the VCore to the minimum needed, and get all the cables out of the way of the airflow. Still, it works. I should be able to play some more tonight.

Hiya catbarf. :)
As you are a Thief Dark/Gold virgin, I would like to say that many of us are truly envious of your situation. This game really is a satisfying classic. Anyway, good to see someone with an older school computer jammin' on Dark Project. Keep up the good work, and I'll see you at the Cloister Taffer! :ebil:

Thanks! Two quick things I'd like to ask of the TTLG folks:
1. Any tips on avoiding the fireball buggers that keep killing me?
2. With a DVD drive and hard drive, can they both connect to the same socket on the motherboard? And besides the flat connector cable and power, what else is necessary for them to run?

Whence they are still unaware of thee, a single water arrow will unfuel them. Once thou hath been detected, two or more are required.

Time the fireballs, they have patrol patterns just like the guards do. Yes, a well placed water arrow will do it.
And if all else fails, run your arse off to the nearest safe place.
