Okay. They seem to spot me from a ways away, and their patrol paths are very long which gave me the impression that they moved in random patterns.
In other news, I got the hard drive and DVD drive working, which means that all I need to do is get a working OS and sort out the mess of cables. Now, is there a way to reverse the direction of a fan short of removing it and flipping it over?

If you're running low on water arrows, you can take out un-alerted fire elementals with a broadhead arrow. They can also be back-stabbed, but if you miss you can find yourself in a lot of trouble.

No, but most fans can be mounted in any facing position. It it is clipped in a cage, just unclip it and remount it reversed.

Hey Catbarf - I am an OLD Thief player: I bought my copy of T:DP on its release to shops, back in 1997.
I played it through (although it took me YEARS - literally, because I am not a dedicated gamer) and it holds a very special place in my heart. I later got my hands on T:MA, and thought it was nice also, but nowhere near as good at the original, primarily because of the story. I have even (recently) played T2X, and posted a similar thread to your one here, over on that forum.
2 things I never did though: get into fan missions and Dromed, or every play Thief Gold.
Well, for my recent birthday I was given an almost pristine copy of Thief Gold, and I am playing it for the first time ever. I am enjoying your commentaries, and finding many interesting similarities and differences. Keep up the good work.

Thanks, I'm still working on getting the new PC fully operational with all my old games while at the same time avoiding construction work on my house. I'll have time this summer- I know definitively that I'll get back to this.

Touchpad?! Playing games on a touchpad is a bitch, you should get a cheap mouse :) And not a wireless mouse, they're great but not for games. When the batteries get weak it can kill you lol.

My new PC has a decent mouse, and to be honest I miss the touchpad. I had some serious accuracy with that thing. I'm currently using a wireless since all the wired mice I've tried from a box of Ebay junk have been absolutely terrible, and I'm too cheap to go buy another unless it becomes an issue.
Almost done setting up all my software, I should be continuing soon.

Interesting thread, i just bumped into it the other day and its nice to read your experiences with thief :thumb:
It reminds me of me a couple of years ago when i played it for the first time
The zombie parts were funny because i was also freaked out by the 'not so dead corpes' laying around ^^
