Didn't see this mentioned yet. But if it is, just refer me to the thread.
Has anyone else encountered a bug where Garrett suddenly stops being able to walk. He can still move through space but his actual body doesn't move. I realized this had occured because it not only makes you stop bobing when you walk, but you also can't jump or crouch. Then I checked in 3rd person and Garrett's body wasn't moving, he was just sliding as if on ice. A reload solved the trick but I'm still curious as to how it might have happened.

I found the dagger, but I'm still looking for the BFG9000.

Yes, this has happened to me. As has what seems to a similar effect (with similar causes) whereby Garrett is able to move but does so a few centimetres off the ground (incidentally making him super quiet.)
I flick between 1st and 3rd person viewpoints very frequently throughout the game and that seems to be the common factor in the occurance of the bug. I think it might be linking with shifting perspective when jumping or descending stairs, but the effect is so intermittant that I can't be sure.
As you say, save/reload fixes it, so no big deal, really.

Yes, I found it, too. IMO the way you had to make it appear was a bit obscure.
I never would have thought to use a pagan wand like this... how painful :o
It happens to me all the time. I usually get it jumping over a railing or obstacle or jumping off a ladder or wall. You can make it go away by getting back on a ladder or wall if you have the gloves. What I hate is that you can't change height at all -- jump over a rail onto a ledge and then you can't fall off of the ledge. In 3rd per. you can't change direction, you can float forward, back, strafe. Then you go into 1st per. change your facing and off you go in that direction. I think it goes away if you suck up to the wall too. (I know I found a 3rd way to get out of it but can't remember if it was that or something else.)

It occurs if you for some reason get your feet stuck in the floor/geometry, walking up a staircase always fixes it for me.

I had this problem in the prison. Had to complete half the mission this way. It was like he was stuck in one direction, and couldn't get out of the floor geometry. Garrett also wouldn't jump or anything, so that made it even harder.

Thanks for the tips for getting out of "ice mode." It's happened to me a couple times now, so I'll try the stair climbing and wall sucking next time to test if that works.
As another side note, one thing that bothers me a little is that every time I find an interesting place to get to in my explorations, there are no rewards there. Like in the first two games if you took the time to explore, you would be rewarded with loot or tools. But I see that much less of that sort of thing in this one. Well, I'll talk more about that kind of stuff once I finish the game. :thumb:

I revive that very old thread just to add another tip:
To get out of this "ice" bug, the most simple way I found is to prepare to fire an arrow (use "jump" to refrain from actually letting it go). No need for stairs or anything.
