Just thought of this.
Is it possible to install Thief 2, with all the patches and, optionally, the mods, along with Darkloader and a few good FMs- onto a USB stick to take around?
Just wondering...

Only thing I can think of is the drive mappings in one of the cfg files (darkinst?). Apart from that you might have just hit on a winner!

This has been discussed before, I'm just too lazy to go search for it.

One way to find out - someone should just try it. I know this has been done with System Shock.
With the size of USB sticks these days, you could probably get the program files and every FM made on the same stick. I just bought a 32 gig one a few weeks ago, plenty of room.

So what? I just put something like this?
Code:
install_path C:\Thief2
language english
resname_base .\res
load_path C:\Thief2+f:\thief2
script_module_path C:\Thief2+f:\thief2
movie_path .\movies
Er, dunno how this would work. Replace "C:\" directories with ".\" somehow. I attempted it, but only movies really works this way.
And that doesn't even work right. Movies wont play.NVM. Vids work that way.

NVM. I think I know how it would work. Maybe some configuration would help... maybe.

(
http://portableapps.com/) PortableApps could do it. You'd have to do some registry finagling with the NSIS script but it's quite doable. Not all that hard.
Biggest issue would be that you couldn't really release it b/c you can't go around giving thief away. Maybe a batch file to do it for you? I dunno.
